I have of lately wondered, perhaps I have wondered it on this forum, could the Book of Genesis, and even the entire OT be an allegory? And would the fact that it was an allegory, and still being a very truth of what the Lord God had done as the book read, that the story and events had been told to the writers hand, that this was how it was. If you should be told that it was not literal history, would that information draw your faith that was in the Bible, God, His Son Jesus, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ the Saviour? Would any of the writtings of Paul, the Gospels of Matt. Mark, Luke, and John, Peter and James lose any of the power that they had spoke?
For me, I would have not one tittle or iota of my faith to be weakened in Jesus Christ my Savior.

Consider Micah- first the Natural then the spiritual-- the OT is the  PHYSICAL being shown for our Spiritual Understanding ---the Natural or physical is the SHADOW of the SPIRITUAL Reality, NOT the reality its self--- scripture declares there needs to be a Witness , therefore,  THE Natural  bears witness to the Spiritual - they go hand in Hand- - AS ITS ITS BEEN SAID on Tent before- Within the Natural book= OT \OC the LORD lays Veiled ,within the NEW HE unveils the spiritual meaning-- EX- the PURPOSE of the TABERNACLE\TEMPLE---

we all at first come the literal way-- as that IS MAN,but then as I dare say when you first were given to SEE that HELL FIRE was SPIRTUAL fire NOT some LITERAL fire burning LITERAL\NATURAL bodies--- you began to SEE beyond the BLACK and WHITE-- you are then LEARNING another Language Micah---Its serpent IN US which keeps us REMAINED In the NAtural realm perciving only the Natural\ physical as do MAMILLIONS still pertain BEING BLIND to the Greater MEANING OF HELLFIRE--- but it doesnt end there bro-- our NATURAL eyes DECIEVE US,- you know? do you understand how many times when in discussion elsewhere... folk will turn around and say--- READ YOUR BIBLE- it SAYS SATAN ENTERED the Body of JUDAS- dont you belivEe it?--thats just one example brother--- why do you think FOLK still sadly Cut off their arms etc--- WHY because that what HE SAYS to DO------? The Lord spoke ALL things in Parables lest he did NOT speak--- EVEN WHEN YOU MENTION THIS its flies right over folks heads---  as the Natural man NATURALLY believes in the literal\natural BEING THE reality---- :icon_flower:

I did not ask the question to have ones understanding of I Cor. 15:46 The question is
If you should be told that it was not literal history, would that information draw your faith that was in the Bible, God, His Son Jesus, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ the Saviour?
Would any of the writtings of Paul, the Gospels of Matt. Mark, Luke, and John, Peter and James lose any of the power that they had spoke?

Beloved Servant

And I will ask the Father,

and He will give you another Advocate to be for ever with you — the Spirit of Truth.

He will guide you.

He will not speak as Himself, originating what He says.

But all that He hears He will speak, and He will make known the future to you.

Nathan

What is the core reason for asking the question?

:cloud9: I don't believe the OT happenings were an allegory, but like Taff said, a shadow of spiritual things, which is why He said that what happened to them was for our example. It could only be for our spiritual example, as we are not preparing for a literal flood, crossing the Red Sea, nor the desert. I glean much from the OT; there is so much life in there, it just jumps off the pages.

And no, it would not bother me if it were an allegory, as I STILL receive the Spirit quickening of the wisdom hid therein, irregardless, and THAT'S what it's all about. My  :2c: Blessings....

I believe in the resurrected Savior of the World,  Jesus.  I have faith that He lived and did the works written in the Book. My question involving the Gospels and Paul, Peter, and James was out of place. First question was:

If you should be told that the OT was not literal history, would that information draw your faith that was in the Bible, God, His Son Jesus, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ the Saviour?

The core of my question is if I found out now, today, that the OT at least part of it is allegories. Since my faith is of The Spirit, would the natural history of man and the garden, the prophets and prophecys speaking of the Christ Messiah, be but teachings that are to be recieved and understood in spirit. Would that shake my faith in Jesus?
As for me whether they be literal or allegory I find my faith just as strong,  for He has brought me to believe.

Thank you Cardinal, I would agree
