This is a poll from city-data.  I'm not sure how to feel about it;  amazed, very sad, "it's OK, God's in control"...  What's your reaction and thoughts?

Poll Results: Which of the two philosophies is the worst, i.e. the most harmful?

Atheism: There is no God.    24   48.00%

The oldest known manuscripts agree with each other 99% of the time.  The scriptures, accurately translated, Spirit revealed - reliable.   Looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.  Heb. 12:2

Well, you've got to remember that even Atheists hate Hitler, and would prefer he be tortured forever than saved.

WhiteWings

That totals 102%  :winkgrin:

Pitty ET isn't part of the poll.
But my guess is the 48% are the ETs
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

Aleax

Anything but amazed, considering the poll took place at city-data.  :winkgrin:

I guess I'll have to go with "very sad".  :thumbdown:

The Plan of The Ages: God's Unfailing Love Revealed in the Cross

Miriam

With those two statements put baldly alongside each other without any other explanation I can understand the split. They could both be read as reasons for thinking that it doesn't matter what we do, because God either isn't there or isn't bothered.

It's only the views of 50 people in total, after all.

changed it  lol

miriam, yeah, it's a small sample.  however, when i look at all the scriptures that say God will restore His whole creation, it startles me when even 1 would say it's best to not believe in God at all than to believe He will save His creation.  :(

Religious people often try to convert others. Atheists are less driven to convert people.
Anyway ET is the most harmful to religion and the most insulting to God.

I guess it partly depends on what kind of God people believe in.

I think so too WW.  Atheists don't recognize that there is a God but Religious people claim to know all about him and present him in a false way that deceives many people.  :mshock:  Sounds pretty much the same as what you said.

Just a few thoughts to consider;

in general, religion is bad and to be shunned anyway.  (scriptures tell us what acceptable religion is - taking care of the widows and orphans)

relationship is the issue;

there certainly are atheists that are very loving, kind people;

there certainly are people who believe in ET - many against their will, they just truly, with a sincere heart believe that's what the Bible teaches - who are very, loving, kind people.  I know many of them.

One doesn't have to believe in or see or understand UR to be saved.  The Bible clearly states to believe on Jesus as our Savior and we are saved.  Much of the rest, though EXTREMELY crucial, is doctrine - things/understandings we're led into as we go/grow - and much of it we won't totally grasp until we're "on the other side".

God bless.

Saved from what though?  This is actually what sparked the correlation of Lot on the other thread I just started.  Lot wasn't a dispicable man, he was just centered on his own desires.  He had no idea of the covenant his uncle had just made with God.  he didn't verbally request to be a part of that covenant, he didn't ask for forgiveness . . .he didn't even plan on ever leaving Sodom.  Yet regardless of where he was mentally, the covenant God made with Abraham automatically included him anyway.

For me, the salvation issue is pertaining to the here and now.  Being saved has several affects.  One, the power of my "self" is broken.  Two, through my relationship with Christ I'm now ENABLED to spiritually see the relatvity of kingdom principles and how they apply to my natural life.  And I can now birth his nature of life and love into others as a fulfillment of his call to reproduction.

But the rescuing has already been dealt with . . . salvation is to affect life on earth.  Redemption is what he did two days ago that enables us to have a here-after as his body and bride.  The church has blended the two as one even though they're not meant to be blended.  Once we let the Word rightfully divide the truth in us, we'll see how the pieces of our lives fit together with his overall plan.

WOW Nathan,

Hollywood and man-made religions tell me I have to die to get to heaven.

Do you mean that the Kingdom — is at hand?
That it is — within me?

#I am unfamilar with that websitee, but if its a general website the I don't see why a non beleiver in God would want all saved. The reason being is that they don't want him to exist, so saving all of man would mean they acknowledge the he exists.

Bro, I think you may be on to something there!!  Who'd a thunk!!!

It's a giganitic website with a Christian sub forum that's a mix of all Christians denominations. Many UR people. Some are (former) Tenties.

I don't agree with the word "want". I don't believe in pick flying elephants. That why I don't desire they leave my house. Simply because they don't exist.

QuoteThe reason being is that they don't want him to exist, so saving all of man would mean they acknowledge the he exists.
But that wasn't the question. The question was what harms Christianity most? Read: What reduces the number saved most?
Many so called atheists do Eastern mystic stuff like meditation and other awareness stuff. Not really religious but it leans a bit toward it imo. The reason given is that it gives inner rest. The all are saved message gives inner rest. ET makes one live in a horror movie.
Imo it's always wrong to put people in strickt groups. Many Christians doubts once in a while. Meaning they are not fully Christian. I think it's safe to say that many atheists also doubt once in a while. And at that moment of doubt the type of message may make a difference...

But it's a strict question that forces one into strict positions.

So whether they are little bit believing or not is not part of the answer.

Hi Taffy,

Yes, we only see what God allows us to see, including atheist and those who believe in ET. It's all a work in progress.
