Call me Smoogy!

I'm a semi-new christian, Meaning that I was raised a traditional Christian but with open-minded parents when it comes to theology and such. I've only really started actually viewing myself as a christian for about 6 months.

I find Calvinism to be attractive except that I'm learning about UR and feel the Spirit drawing me toward that end.

So I'm here to learn and fellowship with all of you!

Hey Smoogy.  Welcome.  Interesting you mention Calvinism.  I never was a Calvinist, was very much an Arminian.  However, since coming into UR, I've begun to understand a little better all those predestination/election verses.  I've come to see more and more God's predestination AND His intent to ultimately save all.  I believe He does predestine the elect, the ecclesia, who He calls out for His purpose - but not so the rest will go to hell - it's so the ecclesia will be kings and priests in His kingdom, working to help bring all the rest in.  That's why in my sig it says the ecclesia are predestined, while all the rest are destined.  All to be saved in their order.  Amen.

Why calvinism? Is there  reason for that? Or just some feeling you can't define?

In my opinion this vid explains very well why Arminians and Calvinists cannot agree with each other. They're both missing something important.  :bigGrin:

You know, after thinking on this, I don't understand why both of these groups don't see that they pretty much believe the same thing.

Calvinest believe that Jesus only died for His own.
Arminians believe he died for those who accept him, {His own}
Calvinest believe those who are not predestined will go to hell.
Arminians believe those who don't accept him will go to hell.

I don't see much difference in their beliefs.  Arminians believe that God knew most would reject him and yet created them knowing they would go to hell. Calvinist believe God chose who would go to hell before he created them, so he knew before he created them who would go to hell and who would not. The only difference I see is God chose one before creation and the other after to go to hell.

Thanks for sharing about your self. 
   I grew up believing what my parents believed concerning the fate of all human kind: (Armenian View Point).
My belief in Jesus being the Savior of All mankind came with  pain and pleasure. I'm so glad God chose to keep pointing this truth about Him self  out to me until I could see it clearly and choose to love like Jesus Loves.
