"For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person's work.  If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames. "

Someone should carefully examine the context of this verse and the surrounding the verses- if we can prove that it is referring to the final judgement and the lake of fire, it would be a HUGE step foward for UR.

Perhaps it is our souls that needs saving. That many will suffer their soul to be lost in the fire, but their all mens spirits will be saved.

if one builds their soul on evil things, then that will be burned up and he will suffer loss. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world but to lose his soul. He gains the love of money but that love of money will perish under fire, therefore it is unprofitable.

I'm not convinced that the next verse is about the lake of fire, because it talks about gnashing of teeth
"Cast that unprofitable servant into outer darkness where there is gnashing of teeth".

It just occured to me that if the devil is a liar and the source of it, then that means he will cease to exist when he is thrown into the fire and cannot really be saved. But it depends on whether the devil was the anointed cherub, that dwelt in eden, because if he was then he might be restored to that cherub, again in time, if God desires it.

Nathan

What if our presumptions of "gnashing" are misplaced?  For me, I always saw the gnashing of teeth as something one would do when one was in great pain and suffering . . .but what if that's not what it means at all.  What if it is more like . . .growling . . .speaking with great disdain toward something or someone . . . in that light . . .

Psalm 35
15 But when I stumbled, they gathered in glee; assailants gathered against me without my knowledge. They slandered me without ceasing. 16 Like the ungodly they maliciously mocked;  They gnashed their teeth at me.  17 How long, Lord, will you look on?  Rescue me from their ravages,  my precious life from these lions.

The place where gnashing of teeth may not be a place of torment at all, but one of religious hatred.

53 you who have received the law that was given through angels but have not obeyed it."  54 When the members of the Sanhedrin heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him. 55 But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.

Gnashing of teeth, means to, grind or strike the teeth together, which expresses feelings of anger.

And outer darkness . . .for me, darkness spiritually is dealing with no revelation, no knowledge of God, blindness, ignorance . . .those that reject the light walk in darkness and when they encounter someone who accepted the light of truth, they become highly confrontational against them . .thus . .the gnashing of teeth . . .it's more of a mindset than someone literally grinding their teeth.
