Quote from: MicahJust what do you think man was and is before Jesus Christ made His sacrifice?

I think--

We were this--

... the son of Adam, which was the son of God.

--Luke 3

And, this--

Ephesians 1:4
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

And what does that mean?

micah7:9

Beloved Servant

Love is never expectant.
Love is always giving.
The only reason love gets, is because love is loved back.

Beloved Servant

He loved us first.

Yes. What is this to the post?

Quote from: MicahThere is nothing similar of a living soul and a quickening spirit. A living soul is not a quickening spirit.

I understand.  I meant to compare the breath of God [to Adam] and the breath of Jesus [to the disciples] as the quickening Spirit.

I meant to imply that Adam received the Holy Spirit when God breathed into his nostrils.  This is why he could not be deceived.

QuoteMan was created to miss the mark, that is and was the function of man from the beginning, to sin, a sinning machine.

I just can't agree with you there.

QuoteBut there is a process of restoration that must be worked first, for the Lambkin to be slain for

So if we are being restored to something, that something is what we originally were created to be.  Like when you restore a piece of furniture, you return it to its original state.

Surely, God is not restoring us to be perfect sinning machines?

I guess the question is:  Is this a story of redemption or a story of a bad person becoming righteous?

micah7:9

"I meant to imply that Adam received the Holy Spirit when God breathed into his nostrils.  This is why he could not be deceived."

Adam/man never recieved the Holy Spirit when God breathed into his nostrils.

"Man was created to miss the mark, that is and was the function of man from the beginning, to sin, a sinning machine.

I just can't agree with you there."

Then what was the first thing that man did if not miss the mark?

I must retract this statement, I miss spoke. "But there is a process of restoration that must be worked first, for the Lambkin to be slain for."

Quote from: MicahThen what was the first thing that man did if not miss the mark?

He talked with God in a beautiful garden made just for him.

He talked with God in a beautiful garden made just for him.

He listened to the Lord God in the garden Gen 2:16  And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
Gen 2:17  But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Then man listened to the voice of the woman. Gen 3:17  And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

Micah, you asked--what was the first thing man did if not miss the mark.

I think I answered you correctly, but I'll repeat it again, just in case--because if we are talking about restoration--to what will man be restored?

The first thing Adam did was walk and talk with God in paradise.

Micah 6:8
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

micah7:9

"The first thing Adam did was walk and talk with God in paradise." Molly
Adam only spoke to the Lord God after he missed the mark
Gen 3:10  And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

I do believe man walked with the Lord God in the garden (fenced or hedged in place.)
As for the restoration, before man missed the mark he was in the will of his Creator, that man  the Lord God had formed. The Lord God had/has a plan and purpose for man and part of that plan and purpose was Gen. 3:6.
The Lord God for His reasoning and thoughts (for they are not ours)
Isa 55:8  For not My thoughts are your thoughts, Nor your ways My ways, --an affirmation of Jehovah,
God has a purpose and plan to bring His sons and daughters back to that place, yes restore back to pre Gen. 3:6 and then he will finish what what He spoke in Gen 1:27 And creating is the Elohim humanity in His image. In the image of the Elohim He creates it. Male and female He creates them.
There is the restoration.

Micah!  You need to cut poor Adam a break lol.

First of all, we do not know how much time passed between one event and another in the second chapter of Genesis.

Second of all, Adam is the first man [or creation of any sort] with that precious and miraculous gift of Language, giving him the ability to communicate one on one with his Creator.

Third of all, a lot goes on in Genesis 2 before Adam misses any mark, as you put it, and Adam is given his commission by God to dress and keep the garden, he is given the commandment about the trees,  he is allowed by God to name all the animals [giving animals names is certainly talking], and he is introduced to his wife Eve with whom he seems delighted, and about whom he comments in such a sophisticated way, that this seems hardly a man who is not used to communicating at a very high level of discourse.

23And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

24Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

--Gen 2

No, and one can only speculate as to what happened as you have a desire to do.

Yes and what are his first words out side of naming all the animals  (I have to accept that man named all the vegetation as well and life in the waters as well.)
Then man compliments his help meet and addresses who she is. But then comes the communication with the Lord God
Gen 3:10  and he saith, `Thy sound I have heard in the garden, and I am afraid, for I am naked, and I hide myself.'
Is it not the voice of guilt?
And then, Gen 3:12  and the man saith, `The woman whom Thou didst place with me--she hath given to me of the tree--and I do eat.' Then does man not pass the blame?
If there was conversation with the Lord God it was not good, it was not going well, was it?
I give Adam man a break with my each waking moment since the Lord Jesus drew me into a walk with Him. I know that
Rom 7:17  and now it is no longer I that work it, but the sin dwelling in me,
