Oh, I guess it's eternal torment

WhiteWings

Or even 'better' Eternal Torture.

Torment and torture are very different in meaning.

Torture is based on vengence. (Greek: Timora)
Torment is about correcting a person. (Greek: Kolasis)

Another one you may sometimes read here: ED = Eternal Destruction = Annihilation
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

Interesting whitewings, might shed some light on the passage that says the beast and the false prophet shall be tormented forever and ever.

WhiteWings

I saw something looking at this thread. So here I'm too

Did it shed some light on the beast?

Timora and Kolasis isn't just quibling about spelling or semantics. I think that word in itself is proof of UR.
Correcting is about teaching someone 'the hard way'.
God being perfect in all His actions is also a perfect teacher.
So a never ending correction means a crappy teacher. ---> The teacher tries but the student never learns. ---> Teacher failed.
So the beast will learn and the torment ends.
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

your post reminded me of something the Holy spirit said to me,back in the 70's.   I was told....I could learn the easier way,by listening and paying attention..

or the HARD WAY,by not....BUT LEARN I WOULD.

If a beast but touches the mountain..He will die....to me..this means...all that lack understanding are spiritually dead to God...

I remember the Mountain in Moses day...where the people didn't want God to speak to them, lest they die

Touch the Holy Mountain of God[let Him teach us His ways] the 'beast' perishes.   All those that receive the mark of the beast have not

been written in the Lamb's book of Life[spiritually dead/conquered by beast who receives authority from adversary/dragon]

there is NO PEACE FOR THE WICKED  bespeaks of a 'certain' torment of the mind...a 'certain' expectation of judgement and impending doom

in man that has not made peace with God. He has no understanding...the lies of the dragon/accusor fill his mind with confusion and fear and dread.

because it is the mind of the serpent/abomination..that shows to himself he is god,and he blaspemes God[his character of Love/mercy/Fatherhood]

this mindset does not let you enter into rest.this same spirit was operative on the religious leaders in Jesus Day...he said, you do not enter in yourselves

  and hinder those who would.

as you can see....this beast mind has to be destroyed...for the good of the whole creation....THEY WILL ALL BE TAUGHT OF GOD

Pr 9;1-6......wisdom hath killed her beasts[wisdom from above]....leave your simple ways and you will live, walk in the way of understanding
