Religious patterns throughout the Bible

Ive noticed that there seems to be a pattern to where the bible warns against other religions.  In the Era of the Law, Many Pagan cities are destroyed for abominable practices.  They are ascribed to Demons.  Yet history tells us that the Ancient Pagan Religions are nothing like the Neopagan or indigenous sects of today.  Those ancient Pagan religions seemed very Fundamentalist in their thinking.  They believed in the whole "Turn or Burn" gospel under different deities, and believed that the gods favored their nation above all other nations.  Yet after Egypt was judged, it still existed as a thriving civilization, despite the old Pharoah had been killed in the Red Sea.  After the Jews went into exile after the last Old Testament book was written, they started to take on Pagan Customs similar to those of the local regions, including Hellfire.  Then the Pharisaic sect came about putting some new twists on the Law, turning the law into a means to look down on others, while justifying their own self Righteousness.  When Jesus began his ministry, he gave the strongest condemnations to the Pharisees referring to them as the Son of Satan.  Yet Jesus never strongly condemned the Roman Pagans in the region.  If I recall, they were not a real strong empire yet.  Then the Prophecies come along, from Jesus, and the Apostles warning us of "Wolves in Sheep clothing", "False Preachers", "Whore of Babylon", and other countless harsh condemnations including many referring to them as from the Devil.  All the warnings that were prophecized began to occur probably starting with the last Apostles Death.  However the Roman Church system got extremely powerful, and turned Christianity into some dictatorship, along with the writer Augustine bringing in the most foul of heresies, and the ecumenical decision stating that "Hell was eternal" from a Ruthless emperor.  The Roman Church system ended up taking on this new Pharisaic system including only Roman Catholic in the plan for salvation.  Islam at that same time developed, which was really just a Middle Eastern Spinoff of Pseudo Christianity of the time.  Then the Protestant Churches developed continuing many of the same pharisaic practices strongly condemned.  Today most Catholic and Mainline Protestant Churches are pretty tolerant, with some pharisees.  However the Evangelical Churches kept with many of the disgusting theologies till this day.  What it seems to me is that the Devil seems to be working in the places that people wouldnt expect.  A long time ago, paganism was the only source of spirituality people had, so the only possible source for any truth.  With Judaism, God establishes an official covenant with man, leading to the plan of the savior.  Judaism at the time carried the most truth, and was the source of the most pure spirituality.  Satan messes that pure faith up.  When the new Christian age comes, the Jews loose their power, turning into a persecuted sect all over Europe.  With the Christian period, comes the redeemer of the world, the source of truth.  Satan then twists Jesus gospel into a new gospel being passed down through Church tradition passed off as Jesus truth.  Finally when bibles become more accessible, Satan no longer can hide behind Church Dogmas, now he twists the bible to muck up biblical Christianity.  Just an observation I could not help but notice.

I wonder if that's true.
When most people had no access to the Bible they indeed just followed what church told them.
How different is it now? What percentage of the church going people reads a Bible?
Children born in a Calvinist family have a much higher chance becoming Calvinist than say Catholic.

The child will believe what the parents told him/her. The parents believe church doctrine. The child is thaught to believe that doctrine even before it can read.
