Kicking against the goads

What did Jesus mean when He told Paul that it hurt to kick against the goads and do you think this applies to all people or just specifically to Paul and his special ministry?

 :cloud9: All people. Goads were used to herd unruly animals, like goats, who don't follow willingly like sheep do. We all start out with this goat nature, which diminishes with maturity in Him.

Stephen gave his life for Paul to be converted; after seeing the love Stephen displayed (Paul held his garments while they murdered Stephen) that was clearly not of this world, that should have worked on Paul to melt his stony heart.

But it took the Lord knocking him off his high horse and temporary blindness to bring him to his knees in repentance. Paul kicked against the goads......the strongest goad is His love manifested. My  :2c: Blessings....
