Yes...Very VERY true.  The minute they name call and behave like that is an instant alarm that this person doesn't know God at all.

The irony is that we are considered the heathen scum and non-christians because we don't embrace their vile doctrine, I would never use such filthy language, to me it's not only totally unnecessary, but downright uncouth and totally boorish :thumbdown:

I have seen christians use such filthy language and it never ceases to amaze me, and they have the audacity to harp on about the so called lack of morals of atheists and non-christians

I've noticed that too.  They act like they are so righteous, and belong to God, yet are some of the nastiest people I have ever met. 
I remember I was watching the debate between Gary Amirault and that Jerry guy, and some so called born again Christian comes on that video calling Gary and Idiot, and in his words "Thanks for telling me I can sin all I want and still get to heaven".  Talk about complete ignorance in Universal Salvation.  So I told this guy very clearly that UR gives no one a freepass to sin, and tried to explain UR to him.  Instead he sends me a nasty Email telling me I was in a cult, and if I wanted to debate the bible with him I could, and that "He would beat me".  Sounds like some typical wannabe cool Highschool/Middle school dung. 

I've seen all too much filth from the people who vehemently oppose UR, and it goes to show us that they are walking in the steps of the Devil.  I can see why, the Devil is going to be hiding where one least expects.

Eh, the anonymity of the internet brings the worst out in many people. I know it has for me before.

Of course, when you run into these kinds of people in real life then it becomes a real issue.

Has that happened to you before.  Me personally, I have seen enough videos of these people to know that not all of them are so anonymous.  On Youtube, there are such popular figures as Pastor Kyle who runs some random Independent KJV onlyist Baptist Church, and he has created some of the most biggoted videos I had seen.

Yeah I've seen videos of christians on youtube who are completely deranged, sending everyone except themselves in hell.

Is there anything Godly about slamming and judging others on either side of this coin?  We need to be careful not to be sucked into the illness.  I do not believe in their doctrine.  I believe in respectful debate.  With that said, I understand that being assaulted like this can hurt even if you know it's ignorance.  It's hard not to lash out in return.  I have struggled with this all my life and continue to do so.  But, threads like this are not fruitful nor do I think it's something we need to involve ourselves in.   :2c:

This is an interesting comment.  For a lot of people (I fall into this trap myself sometimes too), the debate becomes about "winning", instead of simply determining what is the truth.  That is what a debate should be - laying out the facts, exposing errors, so we can learn what the truth is.  Its not so one person can say they are right and the other is wrong.  When that becomes the goal, it is time to end the debate and move on, or at least take a step back.

I can get sucked into it as well.  I was recently here.  I have some fairly strong views on science and the Bible.  Somewhere in the middle I didn't like how I was feeling.  I didn't think my style of debate was respectful.  I also think it was more about winning than determining truth or bringing forth fruitful conversation.  I had to disengage because I couldn't handle the debate.  Thankfully, God is still working on me and it grieves my soul when I act out.  We are called to better.  We are called to lives of holiness not division and strife.
