similes/parables?

Mat 13:34  All these things spake Jesus in similes to the multitudes, and without a simile he was not speaking to them,
Mat 13:35  that it might be fulfilled that was spoken through the prophet, saying, `I will open in similes my mouth, I will utter things having been hidden from the foundation of the world.'

I was considering a verse that has much controversary. A verse that " et'ers and ed'ers" cherish as one of there absolutes. Since Jesus said He spoke only in similes/parables..my question is, are we to understand Mat 10:28  `And be not afraid of those killing the body, and are not able to kill the soul, but fear rather Him who is able both soul and body to destroy in gehenna.

Joh 2:7  Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
Joh 2:8  And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the ruler of the feast. And they bare it.
I am wondering.

I think the first one's parabolic.

The second one seems more straight-forward.  So it makes me wonder if "He only spoke to them in parables" means either a) when he was "instructing" them or b) everything He said, even when appearing "direct", still had a deeper layer/meaning to it, that could be considered parabolic.  I'm not sure, but I lean toward 'b'.

"...both soul and body to destroy in gehenna," is possible to consider happening to us in this life. I speak from experience.  Another thing entirely is this, "Killing the body but not the soul."  It's something people have done to other people. But destroying soul and body in the burning garbage dump is something only God can do.  Gehenna seems to be symbolic  by way of Jeremiah 7:30-31*; 32:34-35**.  It is a shame some are so obsessed with carnal tradition they cannot understand God's clear statements of loving kindness and tender pity contradicting the merciless evil that characterizes the worse than Moloch demon on which they affix Jesus' name.

That the 8 miracles in the Gospel of John are called "signs."  Every particle of expression is worthy to search out depths God has given.  What is called, "This beginning of miracles (Greek:  semeion, 'sign')..." (2:11) corresponds with the last sign, the 8th.  The 2nd goes with the next to last, the 7th; the 3rd with the 6th; the 4th and the 5th.  The Marriage in Cana (place of "reeds") of Galilee ("circuit") is on "the third day."  This is the day we are entering, the 3rd from Jesus and the 7th from Adam.  The glory that is hidden in us is about to be revealed in "the wedding supper of the Lamb."  Our bodies of humiliation are to be transfigured into bodies of glory by His "seizing as His own" (harpazo) us who seek to harpazo Him.

The Parallels:

The background to the Wedding is Nathaniel's faith and for the Drought of Fishes is Thomas's unbelief.  The places are Galilee in each.  The Wedding is on the 3rd Day and the Catch is upon the 3rd time. Wine was provided corresponds to a meal provided.  Jesus was called and His disciples and the Lord was the Caller of His disciples.  Failure confessed, "They have no wine;" and, They had "caught nothing," had "no meat."  Numbers:  6 waterpots, 2 or 3 firkins each; 200 cubits, 153 fishes.  Command:  "Fill the waterpots with water;" and, Cast the net into the water."  Obedience:  "They filled them;" and, "They cast therefore."  Waterpots filled to the last drop, "up to the brim;" and, net full, to the last fish.  The servants bare (enenkan;) "bring of the fish (enenkate.)  Glory manifested (ephanerose;) and, The Lord manifested (ephanerothe.)  His disciples faith; His disciples love.

So much is here.  Let me but mention what stands out to me of the Wedding.  The water of the Word within us and our first birth of water will be transfigured. The wine of the wisdom of 6,000 years is beginning to be poured out.  That, "...we must be changed" is coming upon us.  The glory will be manifested!

When Jesus says, "...mine hour is not yet come," (2:4) it indicates this "Wedding" is an event displaced in time. "Many that are first shall be last, and the last first..."  This Wedding at Cana with the last sign, The Drought of Fishes comprise a prophetic revelation concerning the end of this age at the time of the crossing over into The Age of Tabernacles.

"Cana" is from the Hebrew "kana" and we still use it to speak of "canes," or, "reeds."  When Jesus spoke of John the Baptist He asked the crowd, "What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?" (Mt 11:7; cp., Lk 7:24)  These reeds, bound together, properly measured and cut are a Pan's Pipe making beautiful music when blown across.  The reed can also be cut diagonally and split, like a feather, to hold ink and make a reed pen for writing.  Our human lives are like the reed.  When the Spirit blows across our humanity, particularly when we are "living stones" (1 Pt 2:5) "fitly joined together" (Ep 4:16) there sounds from heaven the glad tidings of great joy unto all people; that, "All flesh is grass (reeds) and it's beauty as the flower of the grass.  The grass withers and the flower fades; but, the Word of the Lord shall remain."  His moving in and upon us unites us with God and His purpose that we may also remain.  The reed pen writes as Paul describes.  We are "living letters" that the Spirit of God has written "by  us (His servants)...in the fleshy tables of the heart and mind," that we would within ourselves desire and love God's will and way, and know what to do without being told.  This Wedding is at Cana "of Galilee."

Galilee (G1056) means a "circuit, district;" from Hebrew (H1551) "a territory in Naphtali largely occupied by heathen; a circuit of towns around Kedesh-Naphtali, in which were situated the 20 towns given by Solomon to Hiram king of Tyre as payment for his work in conveying timber from Lebanon to Jerusalem...Gesenius has 1.) "'rolling, turning' used of leaves of a door, 1 Ki 6:34; comp. Ez 41:24; 2,) a "ring" (Est 1:6; SS 5:14) "his hands are like gold rings adorned with the adorned with the gems of Tarshish."  The fingers when bent are as gold rings and the dyed nails are compared to gems; 3.) "circuit, region" specially Is 8:23, "the circuit [Galilee] of the gentiles...etc.

As a side note, I was recently told by an Orthodox Jew, that Galilee means circuit, more in a sense of a "returning", which I thought was very interesting. Blessings....
