Hello members of the Tentmaker Forum,

I am new here, and wanted to introduce myself.  I am an Orthodox Christian, drawing from many sects, the various truths and doctrines of the Christian faith.  I am here to debate with all of you on the tenets of the universalism doctrines in a loving and friendly manner.  I hope many of you can do the same, as I have encountered quite the opposite elsewhere.  I am well trained in Biblical exegesis and would like to know, if exegesis in its true methodical form, exists here at Tentmaker, a very popular destination for universalists.  I am not here to convince you of the eternal torment or annihilation doctrines, but only to compare them and see if we are both adhering to the proper hermeneutical and exegetical principles of interpretation.  Thanks again for all of you cooperation and time.  God bless you all.

Welcome! 

I'm not sure exactly what the forum rules are on debating here - this is a place for friendly discussion about universal reconciliation/salvation.  You might want to check with the mods.   I think if you have sincere questions and are here for open discussion to learn then you will get along fine.  The moderators don't like things that degenerate into flame wars/food fights, which unfortunately sometimes happens and then the mods have to step in.

I recognize your name from another forum (City data) where I post under another name,  to be fair I've witnessed unlovingness/ intolerance and unfairness from both the ET and URers, the ETers are accused of being hard hearted and liking the idea of hell (which some do, but not all), whereas the URers are accused of being liars and wolves in sheeps clothing, and are not acknowledged as true christians, so that already gets peoples backs up and does nothing for the cause for christianity

Also remember disagreeing with someone/or having someone disagree with you isn't being hateful in itself, it's the manner in which people present themselves, as I've explained above

Keep in mind new friend... that the LOVE of CHRIST... Passes KNOWLEDGE -- Eph 3:19 -- so whatever we THINK we "KNOW" -- LOVE exceeds it! :nod:

As well as "where SIN ABOUNDED, ...GRACE did MUCH MORE ABOUND" -- Rom 5:20 -- No degree or amount of SIN is specified, just that GRACE exceeds it in EVERY instance of it. :nod:

Hello Jerimiah.  Welcome, but this is not a "debating" site, if one's definition of such entails ongoing arguing and strife.  In that sense, strife-fueled debating is not only discouraged, but will often end up in moderators' intervention.

That being said, feel free to present your views, ask questions, provide whatever scriptures and scriptural understandings you may have.  We moderate strife, personal attacks, and limit indepth discussion of "free will" and trinity.  This is based on past history of problems, and we are not in the business here of feeding dissension.  We are here to share the Good News of Jesus, Savior of the world, and to respectfully discuss related issues.

Thanks you everyone for the warm welcome.  I have not come here for confrontation, but only for more analyzation from your corner of the world.  It seems, that universalism, has many different views such as premillenialism, and it would behoove me to become more familiar with the folks over here.

A critical analysis involves good judgment, which does not require a literal millennium.
If your intentions are truly to become more familiar with the Reconciliation of ALL things,
in a non-confrontational manner, you will be received with open arms, as:

"Giving and Receiving, both require open hands."

Good deal, Jerimiah.  There's been a really good spirit at the boards recently.  We have a mix of (mostly) believer's in ultimate reconciliation/The Victorious Gospel of Jesus Christ, some who lean towards annihilation, and have had a number of believers in eternal torment pass through.  However, folks have been sharing, asking questions, learning from each other - like I said, the atmosphere's been good.

Feel free to explore, ask questions, present your thoughts and your reasons for seeing things the way you do.  There really are various types of beliefs about universalism (most here don't prefer to even use that term, as it can mean things that people here are hesitant [or refuse] to identify with).  Although Tentmaker is not denominational, doesn't have an "official creed", etc., I'm posting a link of "TM's Beliefs Regarding Universal Reconciliation", quoting Gary Amirault, site owner  - http://www.tentmaker.org/forum/index.php?topic=8094.msg95116#msg95116
