Title: Over Age 50 Perks
Post by: FineLinen on January 28, 2008, 12:00:41 AM
1. Kidnappers are not very interested in you.

2. In a hostage situation you are likely to be released first.

3. No one expects you to run--anywhere.

4. People call at 9 pm and ask, " Did I wake you?"

5. People no longer view you as a hypochondriac.

6. There is nothing left to learn the hard way.

7. Things you buy now won't wear out.

8. You can eat dinner at 4 pm.

9. You can live without sex but not your glasses.

10. You enjoy hearing about other people's operations.

11. You get into heated arguments about pension plans.

12. You no longer think of speed limits as a challenge.

13. You quit trying to hold your stomach in no matter who walks into the room.

14. You sing along with elevator music.

15. Your eyes won't get much worse.

16. Your investment in health insurance is finally beginning to pay off.

17. Your joints are more accurate meteorologists than the national weather service.

18. Your secrets are safe with your friends because they can't remember them either.

19. Your supply of brain cells is finally down to manageable size.

20. You can't remember who sent you this list.

I can relate to

17. Your joints are more accurate meteorologists than the national weather service.

When my right hip gets sore (old motorcycle accident injury) it is either going to rain or be cold with moisture.

Had that since I was 40.

21. Your replies to threads on a forum aren't as instant as they where before. Could be connected to 19.

On the bright side if your body still works at 50 you didn't party enough in the 1st 50 years or your life.

It's all fun and games until you pass your bicentennial.  Then you've got to wake up, smell the roses, and realize that there isn't a woman on earth that'll live as long as you will.  They all wind up destroying their bodies on chocolate, rainier cherries, avocados, cup cakes, and other things until all a guy's left with are the memories, the sleepless nights, the crying out of names of lost loves in the middle of the night, the images of all of the constellations you saw from the hundred thousand different worlds that love made you look up from as it made your soul soar through the stars, and all of the countless empty bottles of beano that you wound up consuming while you were traveling back to earth eating all of those burritos that you'd find along the way (hoping those were just beans).  Ah, the memories of Orion...

Sorry, I was in a corny mood after I'd seen what are my two favorite Spanish Novellas right now.  (Al Diablo con los Guapos and Fuego en la Sangre)  I both enjoy the Spanish soaps that I'm watching right now and I get aggrivated by them all at the same time [often times].  There's this manipulative woman on one of the soaps that I'm watching that turns on the tears on cue when she's looking to manipulate, and if anybody's around while I'm watching it, I'll start boo-hooing really really loudly and pathetically right with her in a real mocking [yet deeply pathetic] way.  The Bible says to weep with those who weep, so :dontknow:

Many of the country is proud of the national footy team. (excluding me; who doesn't even know the rules) You know the team with players from all nationalities except Dutch  :laughing7:

How found the Tent? I was just flicking through the camping guide and the HS led me here. Just kidding I never had any such feeling. I'm trying to learn a bit about Christianity. One part of me says it's total nonsense (as any religion) another part of me just looks at nature and how science struggles and so thinks there should be more. The religious part of me is enjoying small victories.
I have problems reading the Bible. It's just not my type of book. If I read 10 minutes. Close the Book, I can't even remember if I was reading Genesis or Revelation. Sounds like another humor quote but it's very close to reality.
So I took another approach. I got myself some electronic Bibles. Picked a subject that bothered me. Like the Biblical and scientific age of the universe. I started Googling and reading opinions. Bought books on the subject. Now for myself I got them harmonized. Then I started to figure out the exact birth, death, ministry dates of Jesus. Got that figured out too. When doing 'research' on the above I stumbled on new subjects I wanted to research. Like Sunday/Saturday. Sunday always seemed to perfectly obvious. Not anymore. That mystery is unsolved for me. And ofcourse Hell.
Eternal tortuture never seemed to fit with the love aspect of God. So I started digging in that area. Needless to say I found many ET sites. But pretty soon felt attracted to Annihilation. (still feel that way a bit)
But when I find Annihilation-refuted sites I get confused again. Another Google session and I found one of Gary's books.
And then it was a small step to this forum. Here I'm working on my knowledge. I get honest answers. Many seem to have good/solid scriptual backgrounds. Some are hard to follow for me but other persons are easy read to me.
Most important is that the majority here isn't talking 'downwards' from some superiority complex. I get very defensive in such situations. I certainly know my limitations but I'm very well at sensing "if you don't know blaffle them with BS" type of people.
You know I bow to noone. I consider no human higher than me with two exceptions; my parents.
So almost every question, even the ones most see as jokes (I don't take life seriously), are learning points for me.
You know, in a positive way I learned absolutely nothing at TM. It only proved what I already knew. But it strengthens my defenses against depressing ET sites. And TM has the best smiley set I've seen sofar....

Mmm, my most serious post of all in a humor thread  :icon_jokercolor:

Mmm, sounds sinfully gay.
Let's just say your suit could use some clogs.
