Just rented and watched "Noah." Really don't know why save just curiosity. Well at first I thought I was watching "Transformers" I of course had read the events in the Bible sometime before, still I was totally lost as to what movie I was watching. It would seem that hollywood took liberty, in other words using the name Noah and then writing a screen play and script(and I must assume) they didn't want to use the Bible as a basis for a movie called Noah. Yes there was what hollywood calls drama, and what drama, Noah had three sons and three wives(I read that somewhere) the movie had Noah with three sons alright but one one was way to young to have a wife and Shem, well he had a girl picked out but she got caught in an animal trap and died. Japhet well he had a wife and she had twins both of which Noah was determined to kill cause God was not for that. In the end Noah didn't kill them and he hugged his wife.One thing held to the truth, Noah's wife didn't have a name. I am glad I spent only $2.19 And Russel Crowe wasn't all that good and I like Russel Crowe. If you have sense of humor and having read the Bible, I suggest you rent it. It's better than Animal House. Ha Ha Ha!

I haven't seen the Noah movie but I heard it does not match the Biblical story of Noah. Is it true that there were talking rock people in the movie?

Yeah, they are what I called "transformers" but in the movie they are called "watchers" who are supposed to have been "angels" who had decided to take sides with the enemy over the Creator. So the Creator turned them to rocks with legs and arms with lighted eyeballs. Oh yeah Noah talked to them and became friends so they helped Noah build the Ark.

The watchers you mention are the Nephlim. The "watcher doctrine" isn't a Hollywood invention.
Anyway, if after thousands of years, thousands of scholars haven't figured things out don't assume a Hollywood production to close to the truth.
As for Transformers, the 80's cartoon was way better than the current blockbuster movies.

One thing held to the truth, Noah's wife didn't have a name.

Actually, Noah's wife did have a name, passed down in the oral history of the Miao people.  I'll do some research, and post it here in a few...

OK, they were "Nuah" and "Gaw Bo-lu-en."  All the names of the characters from Genesis are still recognizable phonetically.

Just the watchers. Not the other stuff. Just like with many other Bible based movies. They take a handful of verses and turn it into a 2 hour movie  :winkgrin:

Wow, I had heard it was absolutely not Biblical and so I knew it would be a little strange.. but wow! ..and quite the  plagiarism though! or rather hijacking! Why not do one of the other many handed down through the generations accounts of the flood.. some of those are very embellished and creative..

Of course I can't claim you should find it entertaining because I have no clue what sort of movie you like. My guess is that you like action movies because all the movie trailers contain a lot of action. My guess is that you weren't entertained because you got annoyed that the movie didn't follow the Bible close enough.

O well I wont critique no more movies at least not Bible ones. Not into action movies at all cept westerns. And I will stay out of this posting box I rented the CD on a whim anyway. :dsunny:

I love movies except for ones based on Bible stories. Adding content to what the Bible say, even if innocently intended just rubs me wrong. I wonder how many people went to away believing that really is the story. The best Bible movie I have seen is the Gospel of John. As far as I know every stitch of dialogue is directly from the Bible and the casting, directing and acting is top rate.
