AMERICANS WITH NO ABILITIES ACT

WASHINGTON, DC - Congress is considering sweeping legislation, which provides new benefits for many Americans. The Americans With No Abilities Act (AWNAA) is being hailed as a major legislation by advocates of the millions of Americans who lack any real skills or ambition.

"Roughly 50 percent of Americans do not possess the competence and drive necessary to carve out a meaningful role for themselves in society," said Barbara Boxer. "We can no longer stand by and allow People of Inability to be ridiculed and passed over. With this legislation, employers will no longer be able to grant special favors to a small group of workers, simply because they do a better job, or have some idea of what they are doing."

The President pointed to the success of the US Postal Service, which has a long-standing policy of providing opportunity without regard to performance. Approximately 74 percent of postal employees lack job skills, making this agency the single largest US employer of Persons of Inability.

Private sector industries with good records of nondiscrimination against the Inept include retail sales (72%), the airline industry (68%),and home improvement "warehouse" stores (65%) The DMV also has a great record of hiring Persons of Inability. (63%)

Under the Americans With No Abilities Act, more than 25 million "middle man" positions will be created, with important-sounding titles but little real responsibility, thus providing an illusory sense of purpose and performance.

Mandatory non-performance-based raises and promotions will be given, to guarantee upward mobility for even the most unremarkable employees. The legislation provides substantial tax breaks to corporations which maintain a significant level of Persons of Inability in middle positions, and gives a tax credit to small and medium businesses that agree to hire one clueless worker for every two talented hires.

Finally, the AWNA ACT contains tough new measures to make it more difficult to discriminate against the Nonabled, banning discriminatory interview questions such as "Do you have any goals for the future?" or "Do you have any skills or experience which relate to this job?"

"As a Nonabled person, I can't be expected to keep up with people who have something going for them," said Mary Lou Gertz, who lost her position as a lug-nut twister at the GM plant in Flint , MI due to her lack of notable job skills. "This new law should really help people like me." With the passage of this bill, Gertz and millions of other untalented citizens can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Said Senator Ted Kennedy, "It is our duty as lawmakers to provide each and every American citizen, regardless of his or her adequacy, with some sort of space to take up in this great nation."

Well if you want to see this "joke" in action, just come to South Africa, called here;

AA - Affirmative Action (5 year plan) That did not achieve desired results so;

BEE - Black Economic Empowerment. (Another 5 year plan) 

In a nut shell, the idea is you have to have a black person on the board and holding 51% of the vote and share holding, whether he/she makes any contribution either financially or otherwise, allows one to tender for big corporate contracts or government contracts.  What has happened in RL, they have a cell phone, a BMW, and all the bells and whistles that go with that of management but contribute little or no business acumen.  A card carrying member of the ANC is a good proposition for such a position as this opens doors to Government contracts.  When and if the said business closes down, the "BEE" partner has no skill developed to entrepreneur a business of substance, and will look for the next hapless "white victim" to retain said new life-style.

BTW I am not racist.

GE - Gender equality.  Now that BEE has been exposed to be an abused system not adding to or transferring skills, we now have women getting a fairer shake than that of males.  Add all 3 together, a black female, whether she has or does not have business acumen, stands the highest chance of landing a CEO position.

Apartheid was an evil but what is happening now is not leveling the playing fields but just reverse discrimination and equally evil.

We have digressed since 1994 for literacy in the top 10 to below the top 40, not bad for 13 years.  Schooling has degraded to a point that if the parents do not invest in the education process, there is no hope with the current curriculum to be assured that the state run schools will do the trick.  Many schools stand empty as many have opted to go to the predominant "white" schools which are now open to all.  My daughter is now in the top-10 for our province since Gr. 1, a substantial achievement does not guarantee continuation in the school she is naturally zoned for.  We have to make application for the next year for a school that is a 7 minute walk away and we have to do it in the 2nd quarter to ensure class placement.  Failing to do this, she is out.  In the old days, her advancement to the next year was automatic, provided she passed.  The most we had to do being in a town where there is a high turnover of people was fill in a form saying if we will still be here next year and that was normally in the last quarter.

I was involved with administering a private school 4 years ago and I had a black teacher with a masters degree in Maths and Science and he said then that the standard of education had fallen by at least 45% and could not understand why students were struggling with passing their matriculation.

The problem is, since 1994 the curriculum has changed radically at least six times.  At a high school it is not impossible to have in 5 grades, 3 different curriculum's running concurrently.  (In SA we have Gr 0-2 as kindergarten, Gr 3-7 as Junior and Gr 8-12 as high)

The reason I share this, the AA which took place in the parastatals, were in essence a 6-9 month period to coach a dis-advantaged person from the old regime and then the advantaged person being the coach got a very attractive severance package and/or pension.  With that exited a lot of experience and hence we now sit with the results of poor decisions that are continually updated as these folk realise the error of their ways.  Had the original standard of education remained in place, the statistics would have revealed that the % failure would likely be in the order of 65% as opposed to the 7-15% it is today, in spite of a degrading ever-changing points system, students now need a mere 33-1/3% in final exams.

In the same time since 1994, no new schools or hospitals have been built, they stopped building power stations, we had oil reserves for 10 years accumulated from the apartheid era, which were sold off on the open market 2 years ago, stored in converted extinct mines, our synthetic fuel manufacturing capabilities take care of at least 45% of current fuel requirements and we now pay in effect roughly $1 per litre for fuel and diesel is more expensive than gasoline.  In USA terms, that is about $5 a gallon, bear in mind the GDP here is much lower than the USA.

These are but a few examples of incompetence we live with daily. 

Just north of us in Zimbabwe, inflation is now approaching 4000%.

Just to put this in perspective.  These notes are Z$50 000.  At the time on independence in 1980, the Z$ was slightly stronger than that the ZAR.  US$ = ± ZAR7.00.  In 1980, the ZAR was marginally stronger than the USDollar. 

You sure cannot draw money from a standard ATM, if they existed, can you imagine the queue and what the folk would have with them to put or haul the money off in?

So this meal cost millions of Zim dollars.  As a tourist, you cannot pay by check and hauling out your Credit Card is very risky due to fraud.  The black market operates on US$ but if you are caught with any forex, it is confiscated and face possible arrest, jail time and extradition. 

So going to lunch, you haul a barrow load of cash.  The result of 27 years mismanagement.

Inflation is so out of hand, people work for food and barter.  You queue for easily 1-2 hours for a loaf of bread.  One story I read of a son who went to Zimbabwe to bury his father (a Jew) had to make arrangements with Hindus to get him cremated.  They had to do some ritual so that the dead father converted to Hinduism to allow the banned practice of open cremation (except for Hindus), yet there is no more space in the graveyards.  The crematoriums are all apparently non-functional.

Undisclosed/unofficial reports put the yearly death toll of AIDS related deaths as high as 250k, a land with a population of approx 7.5M.  Condoms and condom advertisements were banned by Mugabe and ironically his hate of gays stems from the fact his eldest son died of AIDS and was alleged to be homosexual.

They, as you know, repatriated white farmer's lands and were given or sold to to party government members for a pittance.  What used to be the bread basket of Central Africa is now a wasteland of unproductive farms.

27 years ago, the Zim Dollar was stronger than the US dollar

This is a bad luck story but I have seen the pattern throughout Africa.  Once the liberators die off, the countries then get a chance of restoration for better things.

BTW, last year in Zim, they trimmed off three zeros off their currency particularly as wallets serve no useful purpose, we shall see what happens in January 2008.

Somewhere I have a pic of a guy that went to a bank to exchange old currency for new.  It was about ZAR100k and US$14k, the money was stacked a metre high and a metre wide and took up the entire counter space of the bank.  He probaly still walked out of the bank with a barrow load of cash.  Money in the bank in Zimbabwe devalues not daily, hourly.

I spent my entire school years there including a 5 year apprenticeship. (1966-1980)

Here the affirmative action plan, the last time I knew anything about it (my friend worked for the Dept.of Labor, Office of Contract Compliance as a compliance officer) larger companies that were government subcontractors or government contractors, were required by law to have 10% minority job placements in any level of the business. Women were considered minority, but not as "favored" as non-white ethnic varieties of either male or female.

If it was a company that bid on contracts for services for the State, then the State had to award 10% of it's contracts to minority owned businesses. So basically, this law only allows discrimination against white males. Ideally, the job should go to the most qualified applicant, regardless of color or sex, but since racism exists, this is their "law" to try to prevent it in the workplace.

Basically, no one can outdo God's justice, no matter how hard they try, and oh do they try......and only make it worse.......my  :2c: Blessings to all....

The locals and the better off pay by cheque.  The poorer folk have the carting around problem.

The guy I mentioned that changed his old currency for new, it took two mini-vans to cart his money to the bank.  He probably still walked away with two or three suitcases of the new notes.  At the time of the photo (a year ago), inflation was just under 3000%.  Now it is over 4000%.

When the US dollar finally crashes, this is what is waiting for all of us who are linked to the US dollar.
