But that's just it, following Christ shouldn't "be" a religion . . . for me, religion is a perversion of pure relationship.

For me it is exactly what the Bible is about. Religion means reconciliation. (Just take a peek at the Latin)

I often wonder whether aethist because of incomplete knowledge or because of heart.

Or to be more exact , would a aethist convert to Christianity if they had all the knowledge concerning Gods existence.

To me they might have all the knowledge of God but might not be ready to meet God. I think the devil lies in this category, where he has knowledge of the heavens and of Christos, but would rather live his own way and live in his own kingdom.

But I think many aethist believe that the knowledge they have and the general way of the world (death pain etc) points to a world where God does not exist. Perhaps if they had knowledge that God exists, they would convert. But God is a broad category, there are many beliefs concerning God, so I don't believe that only knowledge of a creator would bring them to Jesus Christ the messiah of the bible, unless the knowledge they have does point to Jesus as the Messiah, which in that case, they then have a clear choice of whether to follow Christ or not.

Most people don't believe in pink flying elephants. Until.... they see one.
So when people die and wake up again they instantly know religion was right all the time. Maybe at that point they still doubt who's in charge. Yaweh? allah? Zeus?

Is being happy such a crime? I quite happy in my own little spot on earth. Maybe that's part of the problem. During bad times people turn to God much larger numbers

I don't think we can not KNOW God exists. At least not until we meet Him. While on Earth it's all about faith.

We can make a case for existence of God for example arguing Bible prophecy has been fulfilled. And that people have had God-experiences. However, who's to say with 100% certainty this is because the almighty Christian God exists? Maybe it's just because the universe is "someone else's experiment". Maybe we are merely a simulation being run on a super computer. The one at helm created our religions and is responsible for all our "God-experiences". One day he will get bored of watching us killing each other and just pull the plug on us. We'll all go from existence to non-existence instantly. No heaven, no hell, no nothing.

That said, I'm mostly a believer. But I very often have my doubts. My faith is really not that strong.
