Some of the most conservative Christians I know loved The Shack. I go to an ET church (like most of them are) and The Shack was heavily promoted when it first came out. Most of the congregation has read it. I should say that our church doesn't heavily promote or talk about ET, but when pressed they definitely believe in unending hell. Also, the universalism in The Shack is fairly subtle, and I think many miss the implications of what little is said.
