Title: FORWARD THROUGH THE AGES
Post by: goodreport on October 24, 2012, 05:43:07 PM
FORWARD THROUGH THE AGES (Hosmer, 1908)

Forward through the ages, in unbroken line,
Move the faithful ministers, at the call divine;
Gifts in different measure, hearts of one accord,
Manifold the service, one the sure reward.

Refrain
Forward through the ages, in unbroken line
Move the faithful ministers at the call divine.

Wider grows the kingdom, reign of love and light;
For it we must labor, till our faith is sight.
Prophets have proclaimed it, martyrs testified,
Poets sung its glory, heroes for it died.

Refrain

Not alone we conquer, not alone we fall;
In each loss or triumph lose or triumph all.
Bound by God's far purpose in one living whole,
Move we on together to the shining goal.

Refrain

It always amazes me how well the protestants who wrote these hymns understood the scripture and translated it into simple songs that people who did not pour over their Bible could learn easily.

I really do believe we have been in a dark ages of sort of the church, starting around the end of the 19th century.  It seems like the 20th century descended more and more into darkness, and people forgot truths that were so readily available to all 100 years before.

Does the thought of universal reconciliation.
Provide the joy and resources of exhortation.
Look at your heart with his eyes.
Then you'll know and realize.
The writing left there looks like finger painting.

The new covenant written on mind and heart.
Declared fulfilled from the very start.
Accept and enter in his rest.
Completed is your spirits quest.
Soar like an Eagle and run without fainting.

The Holy Spirit whispers unspoken words.
and we shout to the heavens  that we've have been heard.
The lamb of God slain for me.
I witnessed Love on Calvary's tree.
His kingdom come His will be done what am I anticipating.
