While we're on the subject of cows, I was listening to this song by the Scottish band Mouth Music the other day, from their album mo-di. The lyrics are based on a traditional Xhosa song, and it comes sooooo close to a Christian sense of redemption, but then, I like to see the stamp of God in every culture. Of course, the blood of the cow does not redeem us, but the concept of redemption in blood is there, like an OT sensibility.

Speaking as an ex-vegetarian (yup, seems there's always another thing I formerly was...), I can tell you that to some veg-heads, not eating meat is their gospel. Some are almost rabid.
