I believe...they goofed.

They actually did that to avoid a double negative. "I believe there is No God" makes sense grammatically. It is simply the reverse of saying, "I don't believe there is a God."
If they were to word it as "I don't believe that there isn't a God", the double negative makes the positive of "I believe there is a God" which would be the opposite of what an atheist says.
Belieif is not the object of the sentence but God is. They are simply saying they believe there is no God. It is not that an atheist has no beliefs at all, just like all of us, they have many beliefs.
If I say, "I believe the Miami Dolphins are a football team" I have expressed belief that they are in fact, a football team.
If an atheist says, "I believe the Miami Dolphins are not a football team", he's not at fault for believing they are not just because he is an atheist(and not entitled to beliefs).
Of course, the atheist is just as wrong about the Miami Dolphins not being a football as he is about there not being a God. :Chinscratch: :Peace2:
Knowing nothing about how the last season ended, I am going to take your word for it that the Miami Dolphins are indeed a football team: I have it on good authority from a good friend, that the Seattle Seahawks aren't. So, I am not sure how one proves that a football team really exists. He seemed to suggest it has something to do with actually winning a game now and then, but I will leave that up to you guys.
In my mind there is a universe of difference between saying, 'I believe there is no god', and saying 'I don't believe there is a god.' One seems to be based on some sort of assumed knowledge; the other seems to be a way of rejecting what others say is so. Just my :2c: .
The arrogant ones say, "I KNOW there is no God". Pretty presumptuous. Wouldn't you have to be omniscient - like God to know if there is a God or not. We do know there is the one though.
Isaiah 43:10-11 NCV
"The Lord says, "You are my witnesses
and the servant I chose.
I chose you so you would know and believe me,
so you would understand that I am the true God.
There was no God before me,
and there will be no God after me.
11 I myself am the Lord;
I am the only Savior."
Amen bother ... preach it. We belong to God, cause He chose us. :banana:
