Title: parable of the wedding banquet
Post by: marie glen on April 17, 2019, 02:36:00 PM
In the parable in Matthew 22, after the invited guests ignore and refuse their invitations, the king told his servants then to go out to the streets and street corners and invite all that would, to the banquet.

The king in the parable, which we know parable means "the kingdom is like" - did not send the servants to threaten the people, come to the banquet or I will torture you in my basement.. or I will burn you at the stake.

Nope, no 'turn or burn' atall.. But an invitation to a banquet.

Now, THAT is the answer to what I have wondered about for years - what the wrong garment represented.  Thank you!

AMEN , Being clothed in Christ  :dsunny: :HeartThrob:

In Galatians 3:26-27 Paul writes that "in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ." Therefore everyone who has committed their life to Christ by faith has the status of having "put on Christ."

no longer holding any sins against anyone ,[keeping no record of wrongdoing ]  but forgive as you are forgiven   ,love as you are loved
IN CHRIST ,is a new creation ....     being further clothed upon   2 Cor 5 Our Eternal Dwelling

...3because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked.

4So while we are in this tent, we groan under our burdens, because we do not wish to be unclothed but clothed, so that our mortality may be swallowed up by life. 5And God has prepared us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a pledge of what is to come....

16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view.

Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:

The old has gone, the new is here!

18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:

19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people's sins against them.

And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

20 We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

pretty awesome  ministry/servitude ,   really ,  when we get down to it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amen Rose, excellent post, especially this:

16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view.

IMO the worldly point of view is seeing and judging people as good or evil, under the old covenant of the law, thus, condemning them because they are in darkness and leaving them in that darkness
WHEREAS
the Spiritual point of view is seeing and judging people as found or lost, under the new covenant of grace, thus, not condemning them because they are in darkness, but forgiving them so we can help lead them out of that darkness

..something I noticed this morning.. in Matthew 23, Jesus said three "woes" to the leaders.. And 70 a.d. occurred. Which has made me think tha if Christianity had been all these centuries, what it originally was (is, as Jesus, love and bible itself centered) then the three woes of Revelation would never have been prophecied or proclaimed..

  That is so cool Marie!!
but    think about what we have NOW ,    that they did not  and it was the whole new testament !!!

we know it is forgiving 70 times 7    that is a lot of  forgiving  for they know not what they do !!!!!!!!!!

It should  make us   better  and be healed  and made whole  ,  unlike those that  never heard of such things  before   , all they knew was an eye for an eye and tooth for tooth   under the old law   of holding  one accountable  for wrong doing .

I know I have to think in a whole new way !  "What are the three woes of Revelation?"

Answer: Woe means "grief, anguish, affliction"; the three woes of Revelation are the final judgment God pronounces on the evil inhabitants of the earth in order to spur them to repentance (Revelation 9:20).

The three woes are, indeed, a time of great anguish and affliction for those who have pledged their allegiance to the Antichrist during the end times.!!!    I see that is a the religious spirit of pride   holding Gods people  as prisoners .......
