I always thought the ego was blind to itself until mirrored in the face of God and then it is destroyed.

We're going to die," he said to his wife, "because we have seen God!"

not that anyone has seen the Father except the One who is from God. He has seen the Father.

No one has ever seen God. If we love one another, God remains in us and His love is perfected in us.

If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For the person who does not love his brother he has seen cannot love the God he has not seen.

Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The one who does good is of God; the one who does evil has not seen God.

Therefore having such a hope, we use great boldness in our speech, and are not like Moses, who used to put a veil over his face so that the sons of Israel would not look intently at the end of what was fading away. But their minds were hardened; for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remains unlifted, because it is removed in Christ. But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their heart; but whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

Jesus eyes are as flames of fire. Anyone who has looked into those eyes has seen God, the consuming fire. "If you have seen Me you have seen the Father."

For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves;

The ego, as I see it, is chaff. The new creation, created in the image of Christ is the wheat. "Seeing Him", disarms us- as His cross disarmed the principalities and powers- and it is the disarming that makes us, as earthen vessels, fit to bear about in these clay pots, the divine nature of Messiah and the shining glory of God.

God have mercy on us, we are all still so well armed.
