man knowing good from evil has no effect upon is capacity to restrain himself from DOING evil.

If man did not know good from evil the word restrain has no meaning .

Do you think it is possible, by using our free will,
to purposely not see the difference between good and evil.?

I don't think so, the fact that you 'purposely' don't see it means you do.

I've come to see this more and more as an ongoing thing.  As much as I have tried throughout my life to put to death the flesh, it simply don't work that way.  Ghandi tried and failed as well.  What I have come to see is that it is a lot like being an alcoholic.  You are never free from the flesh, you try on a daily basis to walk in the way of the Lord, with the Lord's help.  I am no more capable of conquering the flesh then I am capable of teaching myself to live in an anarobic world.  As long I live in the flesh, the flesh will be there.

This is where I have to go to God and say one day at a time in the flesh with the Lord, and my God help me.

I don't believe man can, by will, conquer evil within himself. That is the point of Romans 7. The spirit can give man victory over evil. That is the point of Romans 8. As long as we live in the body, we have the potential for evil.

"Watch ye therefore and pray that you enter not into temptation, for the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak."

"Walk, in the spirit and you shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh"

"Everyman sins when he is drawn away of his own lust and enticed".

Drawn away? From what?

"Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith"

As the hymn teaches, "Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace"

"Set your affections on things above where Christ is seated at the right hand of God."

Watchman Nee wrote a book on the letter of Paul to the Ephesians called, "Sit(in heavenly realms in Christ) Walk(in the Spirit), Stand(in the evil day)

The Logos is complete, but it is not completely understood. http://www.hell-is-a-myth.webs.com/

I'm still back around page 10 and 11 trying to catch up on my reading here.  I have something I've put off posting on this topic.  Reminds me of a phrase from a song, "Soon, and very soon, we shall see the king..."

VB said - "I don't think so, the fact that you 'purposely' don't see it means you do." absolutely right.
I took a class in hypnosis taught by a trained hypnotist.
Under hypnosis, another student was told that they would not see a certain person in sitting in a chair.
The hypnotized person was then asked to call out the names of the people sitting in different chairs the hypnotist pointed to.
When he got to the "invisible person" he said it was just an empty chair. The "invisible person held up and waved a pice of paper around and the hypnotized person asked the hypnotist how he was able to make the paper float through the air.
The hypnotist later told us that the hypnotized person had to "see" the person they were "NOT to see" in order for that particular individual and no one else to "be invisible".

BTW the hypnotist did a demonstration with me where I couldn't remember my own name - of course I had to know what name to forget before I could "forget" it. Confusing? 35 years later, I don't need hypnosis for that little trick

He also said " a wicked and perverse generation seeks for a sign".

Paul also said there are many gifts but one body.  Not all have the gift of healing or miracles.

Yes. Where Jesus said it was. Within.
It is there. Trust me. I found and so can you.
The light is seen with the third eye just as Jesus says but if you do not believe him over you tradition and dogma, I understand.
You have accepted the traditions of men. Jesus has a few words on that as well.

Luke 11:52 Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.

Mark 7:13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

Which traditions of men have I accepted?  You are making a lot of broad statements with little substance.  Frankly I'm not sure what you're trying to say.

Jesus talked about the third eye?? What verse of scripture?

Molly

The 'third eye"

"The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light,

but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

Mat 6:22,23

He's not talking about blind people with bad eyes.

sheila

it is the mark in the forehead of the sons of God. It is how the Holy spirit speaks to us. Projects visions etc.

I saw it more as a projection[unicorn] horn of POWER /Horn of beauty.. as in Ezekiel 9  the man with

the inkhorn..to put a mark on the foreheads of those who greive and lament over all the detestable things

that are done in it..  One of Jobs daughters was named after it[horn of beauty] Now Jezebel has her

counterfeit evil contrast to God's..where eyes are enlarged Jeremiah 4;30 also speaks of it.

The tradition of looking to and following your man given dogma and way of thinking instead of listening to what both Jesus and Martin Luther said.

Try those links again.

If you are a protestant then M L's quote is for you.
If you are Catholic then the Jesus quotes are and you might wonder why the largest sculpture at the Vatican is the symbol of the pineal gland that most mystics point to as how to go into the spirit.

God is not in a book my friend. He is within you.
I know that you are used to being part of your religious crowd.
Remember that Jesus went against the status quo and tells us to also pick up our cross and follow him.
If it was easy, and you will likely take that easy way, then like your friends, do not expect to find the God you seek.

Admin Note - One Male, you seem to have come on quite abrasive right off the bat.  This is a discussion forum, not a debate, arguing, or attempting to domineer forum.  Also, we post here "as I understand", "I believe", "in my opinion", etc.  Especially, we don't allow personal insulting, mocking, flaming, etc.  It's a tightly moderated forum, for the discussion of UR.  The forum guidelines/expectations clearly state these things, including that your first post expresses agreement with those guidelines. If you can reign it in and post in a conversational tone, great.  If not, there are probably forums more conducive to the type of posting you may prefer.  Thanks.

Many verces actually speak of it although your church will not usually speak of it.

This speaker has quite a bit on it I will give the one link but he has others.

Even then you sound foolish as we have 2 eyes not one eye.

Now try that link just above and see what those who thing spiritually know of Jesus and his third eye and what he says of it.

Giving you an opportunity brother.  It's fair warning, and it's something we ALL need to remember.  Thanks for giving it a shot.  Just try to remember we're all growing and learning, God is still shaping us, none of us have arrived at all complete understanding or knowledge - and that those things can be discussed and we can benefit from each other, if we don't alienate each other with our attitudes and behavior first.  "Let not your good be evil spoken of".  My tongue can ruin what otherwise God might have me share.   And above all, "in love, preferring one another".

Thanks.

Whoops.  You answered me twice.  This time you seem to have misread what I said.

I was agreeing with you that there is a 'third eye' talked about in scripture, although I wouldn't call it that, myself.

PS I liked what Sheila said.
