Title: Why Universalism Makes Sense To Me
Post by: JamesH on January 31, 2018, 02:02:24 AM
1.God is love,God is eternal and infinite and God is immutable/unchanging which means if all of those attributes are true that means God's love is eternal, infinite and unchanging. A God with those attributes will not let any of his creation roast on an open fire for all time.

2.God's mercy is eternal and infinite and God is immutable/unchanging which means if that is correct that means God's mercy is eternal, infinite and unchanging and will always have mercy on his creation and won't let any of his creation roast on an open fire for all time.

3.God's grace is eternal and infinite and God is immutable/unchanging which means if that is correct that means God's grace is eternal, infinite and unchanging and will always extend His grace on his creation and won't let any of his creation roast on an open fire for all time.

Amen; indeed by definition of love in 1 Cor 13- love keeps no record of wrongs, and love NEVER ends;
Since our Father is greater than any man our Father will NEVER fail to love in full.

Eph 2;4-7 " But God, being rich in mercy,
BECAUSE OF HIS GREAT LOVE WITH WHICH HE LOVED US,
even though we were dead in our trespasses,
MADE US ALIVE TOGETHER WITH CHRIST,
you have been saved by grace,
and raised us up WITH HIM and seated us WITH HIM in the heavenly places IN CHRIST JESUS,
TO DEMONSTRATE IN THE AGES TO COME THE INCOMPARABLE RICHES OF HIS GRACE in kindness to us in Christ Jesus."

Love that the plural of ages to come emphasises some major changes for the current system- total replacement.
By definition grace seems to be "unmerited favour." ergo no self effort. Hence, NOT by works so that no one can boast.
For me that releases totally the fear of failure- hence perfect love casts out ALL fear.
True love is indescribable. :dsunny: :cloud9:

A statement, not a request.
Too much of the teachings/doctrines of man imply God is begging us to find/look for Him. Paul's teachings are to correct that system.

Romans 9;11,12 " For even before they were born or had done anything good or bad so that God's purpose might stand according
                           to election,
NOT because of works, but because of His call...."

Romans 11;29 " For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable."

Pretty definite statements.

Romans 11;32 " For God has consigned ALL to disobedience so that He may show mercy to ALL."

His grace cannot be over-ridden by anyone- ergo Paul says that NOTHING can keep us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Would be why Paul elaborates about that love.

Yes sis Jesus Christ was  considered cursed of God before the sight of mankind in that day and we know  no one is above His master

Jesus Christ glorified HIS FATHER  in His death   , SAME FATHER OF US ALL ..

GOD WORD /seed will not return to HIM VOID!

That is every one  born of woman under the law     ,  every seed has its purpose  in GODS WORD

No one will be boasting in anything but the FATHER   :dsunny:
They did not know Him , but to know Him is to Love Him   ! :HeartThrob:

Isaiah 53/54 elaborate on what He truly suffered for us- hard to read without bursting into tears that He loves us so much to endure these things for us. Coming to grasp this concept has deepened my love for Him beyond the boundaries of mans' teachings.
Knowing that all my sins and mistakes have been literally nailed to the cross explains why He was literally nailed, not roped, to the cross[ Col 2;14].  Since that happened nearly 2000 years ago, but is applicable to us all, is a great indication of the depth of His love and the preparation for the coming ages.
All this information being hidden "in Christ" [ Col 2;3], linked with the statement of "in their own time",  for me, removes the uncertainty of their conversion and deepens the depth of the plan to work out each of our conversions so that when all are in Christ this will remove all doubts, fears, and deceits that have been put in place by mans' efforts. That makes a lot of sense about a truly loving God Who created us for a glorious future.

I think 1 Corinthians 13 is a very powerful Christian Universalist statement.

For me, verse 8 is so important.....'Love Never Fails'.

God's perfect love will never fail us....He made us, and we are told in the Bible, that He who created a good work in you, will bring it to completion.

Philippians 1:6

6For I am confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will continue to perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

I believe God created a good work in all of us, as we are told, He created us in His image and likeness.

We have been given an immeasurable treasure, in the love of God, for us.

He will bring us home.

D.

               :iagree: :iagree:

    :Chinscratch: ..now I'm trying to remember where I read a certain verse, I think it was this morning..  :doh: no it was last night.. In Psalm 91, verse 14, the New KJ says it like this "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name."

But I was reading the Psalm in a Contemporary English Version Bible, which says verse 14 like this -
"The LORD says, 'if you love me :HeartThrob: and truly know who I am,
I will rescue you and keep you safe'.
:faint: :HeartThrob:

..love psalm 91 in any version..

.... :cloud9: Amen!   :dsunny: What an awesome God and Father He is...
And it's mapped out for us in the ancient holy days.. and in the pattern of the "tent of meeting" which is the pattern of "those designated, He calls (summons), and whom He summons, He justifies, and who He justifies, He glorifies.." - Sumoned and justified, we enter with, and via, our High Priest Jesus past the 1st veil when in answer to the summons, responding with Him at the altar of incense which faces the 2nd veil and the mercy seat.. then "boldly able to approach the throne of grace" via Jesus, into the holy of holies, behind the 2nd veil.. By Him, designated, called, justified, and glorified.."

It's all His process.. none of ours.. Like sister Rose said (in this thread or another?) "No works of ours".. and on the national Day Of Atonement.. (autumn annual day of repentance & reconciliation) very "absolutely no work"..

And I think those not predestined (to believe during this life), and not yet "called" thus they have not yet responded (at the altar of incense before the holy place)...

"Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified." - Romans 8:30
