Title: Universalists are making a mark on Youtube
Post by: Universalist Catholic on June 17, 2010, 03:13:46 AM
I have noticed that there are several channels dedicated to Universal Salvation along with a number of users.  But I have noticed that they are making great videos to share the Good news.  And many of them are doing a great job at scripturally explaining Universal Salvation on such videos trying to promote beliefs in Eternal Punishment.  Unfortunately the ET's arent taking this too well.  The hardcore ET's on Youtube are displaying some pretty disgusting fruits.  In one such instance, someone on Youtube emailed me he was willing to debate the bible with me, and that he would kick my butt.  Yet this guy went out calling Gary Amirault an idiot, and told me I was a part of a cult.(Great fruits).  But I can tell the true word is getting publicly out and destroying the pillars of Eternal Torment which is making the ET believers angry.

Hi UC,

I also regulary see UR people (from this forum) pop up in  ET forums an YouTube.
UR seems to get louder but perhaps that just looks that way because I mainly Google for UR related things for example.
2 years of religious history might be to short to conclude anything....

Have you found many ET stuff based on the same weak arguments used for a long time, such as the classic "Eternal" description?  Im getting on my last nerve with the ET.  Its like talking to a stone wall.  You show them the bible, the original language and Context, they still refuse to accept the possibility of Universal Salvation.  Im done arguing with them, its not worth it.

Sorry UC. I made a huge typo....
I mainly Google for ET ====> I mainly Google for UR
Editted in my original message.

The way I see it it's usually impossible to convive the fryhard ET. But many ETs with more open personality are following the debate. Unknowingly you might help them.
Many on (this forum) once where devouted to ET. Maybe the worsed UR opponents you ever met.
And now.... the are soldiers for UR...

Yes. After a while there is little challange in most of their writings.
Same arguments each and every time.
But the same is true for UR.
The main difference seems to be that most URs do know what ETs believe; but not the other way around in most cases.

I think Gods love is the best weapon against eternal torment. For when you read the bible it sometimes feel there is a place for eternal torment, but love reminds us that this cannot be true. Even in justice love operates to correct and all justice has a purpose, but sometimes mans justice is about revenge.

Rot in hell you scum
Go to hell

etc etc. Most of the time people want people to go to hell when they hate them, such as the murderers and pevert weidos etc, but don't think its justice for an old granny to go to hell.

So I think the main problem is people not willing or cannot seem to forgive their enemies as Christ taught.
So these hellfire preachers should preach less about money, faith, marriage and start preaching more about how to forgive one another and commit justice to the criminals to him that sits upon the throne.

Also I think it is human that we do not want our enemies to be forgiven, for that would be to easy for them, so we don't preach them Christ or pray for them. But we forget that the apostle Paul was a persecutor of the Church and caused havoc and even when he converted to Christ, he was not taken off the hook for the evil he had done, in fact God showed him many things that he must suffer and I think some of the sufferings were there because of the evil he had done in the past.

But even though Gods Judgments were pretty harsh, they were never eternal and purposed to learn righteousness.  In Eric Stetsons book "Universalism: Gods good news for all people." He made that point about temporary judgments.

I got blocked on a Youtube video attacking Universal Salvation.  Another person who also is a Universalist got blocked from that same video.  But what do they expect.  You attack the belief on Universal Salvation with some false assumptions, people are going to tell the truth.

I don't think hating them is a good idea though, even if one does feel like doing it, otherwise it becomes a match of name calling and the devil seemingly wins.

I remember seeing a video where someone stated that someone was a coward, because he made an anti-Universalist video, and then did not allow comments to be posted.  Any thoughts on that?

If they are brave enough to go post a video on youtube, with all its abuse an all I don't see why they are anywhere near a coward.

It would be better if people could comment. But many people on youtube block comments because some people are unable to speak to each other with respect and dignity, spoiling it for the rest of the users, also some people have bad days and posting abusive or frustrating comments on youtube is an easy and something to do. Once people build up a community of fellowship, I have seen that good comments can be brought to the surface, but new users and haters tend to be the ones that are disrespectful.

In the videos attempting to refute Universal Salvation, I find that the Universalists are very respectful when explaining their beliefs.  Every video I have seen that attacks Universal Salvation goes embellishing these Hell proof texts, conforming to the traditional understanding.  Or other times they water down those glorious proclaimations of Universal Salvation to meaningless declarations, and other times, they make up blatant lies that we reject punishment and water down sin.  So I do think that the Universalist are right in explaining the victorious gospel, but no need to attack those who preach the bad news gospel.

One of my problems is my wife is an ET'er and she worries tremendously that I will fry because I don't believe 90% of the lost that Jesus loves and came to save will be ET'd. (Even though most of our friends and family are "lost.") She thinks the threat of ET is the only thing that keeps people from sinning while I maintain it's the love of God.

I know, it's twisted that it seems the thought is, rather than believe on Jesus, it's "believe in eternal torment/hell and you will be saved".  Maybe some just don't think it through very clearly or thoroughly...

  True.

But I have the same hope as Paul... that there will be a ressurection of both the just and the unjust (Acts 24: 15)... How could Paul even say that if he believed ET was the fate of some?

How does she explain why your not acting like that?

The problem with that is that it is a flesh carnal based effort to resist temptation. This type of resistance breeds religious pridefull attitude, that is just one reason why the church is full of pridefull, hypocrites, because they rely on their flesh to resist and thus they think they are superior to others, because that's how the flesh carnal system works. Of course there might be exceptions and judging the person can be a challenging thing to do, some people though are easy to figure out and is blatanly obvious where they are coming from.

If you take away the ET argument from people, they lose their power to determine and declare people saved.  It's heady stuff, and they don't like parting with such addictive behavior.  That's their main source of mind control, and it feeds into people holding signs on roadsides, and picketing abortion clinics.  They want to give others peace.  They won't say it that way, but it's true.  I have a friend who posted me two years ago that her two year old was "saved" that day.  Still in diapers, she got the poor talker saved.  Also, by challenging ET, this creates a storm for pastors who make mega bucks off of congregations in order to "save" the lost.

I think that's just to ease her/his mind.
Ignoring the fact that a baby can't actively choose for Jesus (or anything else) ET stats show the baby has 5% change to get into heaven. I can imagine that can haunt a parent's mind so a little self-brainwashing is needed to ease the mind...
