The resurrection of the dead, not the flesh, was the hope of Israel. Christ's flesh alone would not see corruption, as spoken by David, proclaimed by Peter on Pentecost, and broadcast by Paul when he turned to the Gentiles. Our flesh is mortal, literally death-doomed in the Greek.
We would not all sleep (wait in death), but we would all be changed, because flesh and blood CANNOT enter the kingdom of God. The Greek word for changed is ALWAYS used from Genesis to Revelation of a replacement or exchange, never one thing changing into something else. Thus, our fleshly body will be exchanged for a spiritual body; one is not changed into the other. Our flesh still returns to the dust from where it originally came.
God wants us to enter His kingdom and dwell there. That's the point of the whole book: God wants us to dwell with Him. In the kingdom of God you will not sleep anymore. There is no day and night there; no morning or evening; no need of a sun or a moon, because the glory of God illuminates everyone and Jesus is the glory-giver.
Ezekiel's unfaithful woman and John's Babylonian harlot, also called Sodom and Egypt, where our Lord was crucified, was destroyed in 70 AD (aka C.E.) and replaced by a New Jerusalem in the kingdom of God. It's the city Abraham looked to whose builder and maker is God. Read the names in its foundation and read of its great walls and gates where you will enter, because Christ has made you ready.

Summed up in the simple phrase: an exchange of "life for Life"
Great post max
Amen! Very good post and I totally agree about an exchange of body as Paul said "with what sort of body shall they rise?" ..Only I'm not so sure about no sun, etc.. It says the city, the new Jerusalem will not need the light of the sun for God's very throne will be there - [God's throne coming to the new earth! ]
It's not that I disagree on that small point, I just don't know..
What I do think I know however, is that we will have some sort of body.. and we will dwell upon an Earth.. This, to me, being important, only because I cannot envision a disembodied life, which seems to be a prevalent worldwide belief. And the universe is a wondrous thing, with all its beautiful animals, which I believe will be close friends of ours! I guess I believe He is creating a perfect paradise and this 'lower' corruptible version of it is so all can be part of it but immune to selfish, self seeking tendencies such paradise can produce.. And I think there is something in man and woman which very much yearns for a literal paradise.. Like this one is sort of a teaser.. And example of how not to do things..
that's just it Marie,we won't be dis-embodied...He is planting us in the new heavens..and there will be new worlds/estates..for our habitation.what bride refuses to
go live with her husband? :2c:
Amen! Peter wrote a new heavens and a new earth wherein righteousness (rightness!) is to dwell.. And Isaiah prophecied how Yhvh would rebuild Jerusalem with gems as her foundations and gates.. And even though the Heavenly, New Jerusalem comes to Earth (and God will tabernacle w/man), I don't think we shall be limited as to where we can go and be.. I really believe creation, as wondrous as it is, has just begun.

Beautiful post Max !! :dsunny: :HeartThrob:
I believe that Christ is being formed in many as now are Hid in His ONE glorified body as the Woman /Body of Christ / a New Jerusalem from above Jesus Christ was sent from above ,
He is the husbandman / head of the house /authority ruling over His body / woman and cherishes it /faithful to it .
Lament over Jerusalem
36Truly I tell you, all these things will come upon this generation. 37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those sent to her, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were unwilling! 38Look, your house is left to you desolate....
Wisdom is justified of her Children New Jerusalem pray Gods will be done on earth as it is in heaven ....
Paul describes much about Her in 1 Corinthians 1 -12 chapters :dsunny: Just as Adam has Eve come out of His side so Did Jesus have her come out of His side , being the blood / Life is in the blood spilled upon the earth , better speaking than Abels by the spear and water [covenant of Blood kept in both laws of death old and Life new ]
Fulfilling both laws in ''all things''. Being now both the Lord of the dead and the living , He is the great gulf fixed , done that the Cross , being the mediator between death and LIFE ..
All that will be raised to Life will live to Him , and By Him and though Him and for Him as an endless promise that God the Father could swear by none greater than Himself
Hebrews 6 God's Unchangeable Promise
12Then you will not be sluggish, but will imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. 13When God made His promise to Abraham, since He had no one greater to swear by, He swore by Himself, 14saying, "I will surely bless you and multiply your descendants."...18"In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice."
All shall hear HIS voice and live John 5 The Father and the Son
...24Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life.
25Truly, truly, I tell you, the hour is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. 26For as the Father has life in Himself, so also He has granted the Son to have life in Himself....
27And He has given Him authority to execute judgment, because He is the Son of Man.
28Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming when all who are in their graves will hear His voice 29and come out—those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment
30I can do nothing by Myself; I judge only as I hear. And My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
Our lives do reflect our Lord /lord master those Living and worshipping the Father in truth by the Spirit of truth [His own ]
All will know the truth in the end , knowledge will cease , because we all shall know Him from the least to the greatest and it will be LOVE /God is Love by grace that carried us all even in death being their Lord of both the dead and the living .
Those that Love God desire to honor Him in every way in Christ Living in us already raised from the dead , those whom do not know God cannot , the dead know nothing as they ought . even the sea gives up the dead, till there is no more sea ,till there is no more death being the last enemy of LIFE ITSELF .
GLORY TO GOD for all of His ways ..Salvation is of God and it is Gods will that none should perish , Jesus come to save the world though Him , we have to trust God 100% that He will do His perfect work , as we wait on the Lord ...
