Best example I can think of is if a parent is watching their three year old child, and he/she runs in the street, but the parent grabs the child because he/she could get hit by a car and get killed. The child might get mad, but the parents were being more loving than just letting the child run in the street and get hit. If that happened, that parent would be seen as a neglectful, irresponsible parent. Thats how the doctrine of Eternal Torment is.
On another hand, a teenage girl is dating some jock. The parents can tell just by the way he treated other girls, that this guy is a real punk who wants to have sex with them and leave. The girl thinks she is deeply in love with this bad boy, and is not convinced that this boy is nothing but trouble. The girl has no interest in having sex. However the boy pressures the girl into having sex, she says "NO" and he dumps her right on the spot. Uh Oh, this boyfriend did not really love her, and she runs home crying after that breakup. She is going to be upset for a little while after having gotten close to such a bad boy. But she will be fine. However she had to learn the hard way. Similar to Age enduring pruning, judgment, the lake of Fire, and destruction. Probably not much fun, but necessary for them to understand on their own.
