What do you think would happen if someone wanted to just stop existing after they die? Personally, I don't think that God would ever allow someone's soul to stop existing. I think he loves us all way to much to ever allow that to happen to anyone, even people who may want it now. I think that the only reason anyone would ever want that is because they're afraid of things they don't understand, and I think that asking to stop existing should be the same as asking to change the past or bring someone back from the dead right now instead of before the final resurrection. It's against God's will and he won't allow it to happen under any circumstances.
So, what I'm wondering is, is their significant scriptural support for my point of view?
The Lord is not willing that any should perish...
Various verses say that death will be destroyed, and John 5 mentions how everyone who hears the voice will rise again, and that everyone in the grave will hear the voice.
I think that proves my view must be right.
When thee sons of God arise as one, that will be similar to a million Jesus on the earth. One million Jesus types = resurection power in the hands of every resurected saint, this is what the creation is groaning for, the manifestation of the sons of God.

I said similar to that to a minister once, and got a blank stare, followed by hostility followed by no, no, no...
I wonder why he found it so threatening?

God will have all men to be saved/doth will all men to be saved (1 Tim. 2: 4 KJV, YLT)
As in adam all die, so in Christ all shall be made alive (1 Cor. 15: 22)
He wills us to be saved, even saved from the aversion to life and saved from the depressing desire to cease to exist..

My quasi-ET friend (quasi-ET cuz she believes in ET but the potential for God to end the punishment)...
She asked, "So if Matthew 25: 46 is chastening? Then that would include Satan and his angels."
I replied, "YES!"
And she laughed so hard....
Why is it ok to advocate love for enemies but at the same time delight in God torturing his enemies forever?
But - back on topic... I think God will give us a zest for LIFE (Zoen Aionion) and an eternal life that is... So I suppose it really is against what God wants if we choose to cease to exist... He will reVITALize us..
I believe that when Jesus said death would be destroyed, he meant it- NO loopholes whatsoever.D
And it feels like whenever I have deep questions that cause me to have doubt, The Holy Spirit always leads me to something that picks me back up.

This is Paul quoting Isaiah 45:23, he says "for it is written" to explain this. Also read Isaiah 45:22.
Isaiah 45:23 niv 2010
By myself I have sworn,

a word that will not be revoked:

one word in phil 2:10 should be stressed over and over again.
Phil 2:10-11
"so that at the name of Jesus every knee
should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
here's my translation of the verse.
"so that at the name of Jesus every knee

should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
Hmm, actually I don't think the argument I just made helps my argument...
LOL on your last sentence. I've done that before :)
Please ask God to truly open your heart to this;
Phil. 2:10 that in the name of Jesus every knee should be bowing, celestial and terrestrial and subterranean,
11 and every tongue should be acclaiming that Jesus Christ is Lord, for the glory of God, the Father. (Concordant Literal Translation)
Many translations say BY the Holy Spirit. A literal translation from Young's Literal Translation;
I Cor. 12:3 ...no one is able to say Jesus is Lord, except in the Holy Spirit.
And what do the scriptures say happens when, "..if you acknowledge with your mouth Yesu as the Master, and have faith in your heart that God has awakened Him from among the dead, YOU WILL BE SAVED. Rom. 10:9, The Christian Bible (Literal to the Koine Greek)
Paul said "each in his own turn (order)". James

Might - no not at all - its a PROMISE
I cant see the point of this scripture - MIGHT as in ,you maybe lucky and recieive it -? :sigh:
receive 133, take 106, have 3, catch 3

kamptō
It simply means BOW- which is a Lowering of the Knee causing the head to fall in Honour and worship of one who is sovereign- this being the recognition of Confessing with the Mouth ,the LORD is Lord which no one can say except it be "IN" the Holy Spirit , Be it in the Life span or the Next.

Not a single person can come to Father/go to heaven without believing/bowing to the Son.
IF that is only during this life time then all OT people are in big trouble.

I receive it this way, we find the contention it words like "might, should, will, wish, would, may"... as in
1Ti 2:4
(ASV) who would have all men to be saved, and come to the knowledge of the truth.
(CLV) Who wills that all mankind be saved and come into a realization of the truth.
(KJV) Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
(Rotherham) Who willeth, all men, to be saved, and, unto a personal knowledge of truth, to come;
(RYLT-NT) who does will all men to be saved, and to come to the full knowledge of the truth;
(WNT) who is willing for all mankind to be saved and come to a full knowledge of the truth.
(YLT) who doth will all men to be saved, and to come to the full knowledge of the truth;
When the Lord God that I believe in and have faith in "might, should, will, wish, would, may" then
count it as so and done and that without question or doubt.

Remember what the blessing was. God said to Abraham, "through your seed, ALL the nations of the World shall be blessed".
God didn't say that the nations "might" be blessed. God said they WILL be.
The Spirit of our Father confirmed this again very beautifully through David in the Psalms. David said that all the nations and all they who go down into the dust will bow and worship before the Lord!

Tricky interpretation....
Gal.3:14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
So even believers possible don't get teh promis e of the Spirit?
Gal.3:14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
Gentiles is a group. So possible the blessing is not passed on to the Gentiles.
Gal.3:14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
The blessing possibly does
not come through Jesus.
I have been told that the word "might" in older English is closer to "power and 'might'" than our associating it with "may," including the idea of "permissible, possible" even, "maybe, maybe not." Consider "might" as power that assusures it will happen!

If it is true that scripture supports the salvation of every human being then that is your scriptural support.
Today I had a disturbing thought. What would happen if, in heaven, someone asked God to put an end to their conscious existence, and then to create a new conscious existence that had all of their old memories, like some kind of time-travel duplicate? This has been one of the hardest pieces of the puzzle for me to fit in, but here it goes.
-The Bible makes it very very clear that death will be destroyed. If you were to ask God of such a request, wouldn't it still be death from your end if something like that happened? And wouldn't your duplicate still techincally be a seperate being from you even if it retained all of your memories?
-The only reason someone would want to do that would be if someone is in pain. Since there will be no more pain in heaven, no one would want to do that.
-The Gospels of Matthew and Luke teach you to keep praying and you will receive what you ask as long as it is in line with God's will. I have been praying that God NEVER allow this to happen under any circumstances, and I have strong faith that he will grant my request. This isn't like the selfish prayers for material possessions that I've made in the past, this is a very deep prayer that concerns all of mankind, because ED has always been one of my deepest, darkest fears, and even though I know that I don't want it, I just feel safer knowing that it could never happen even to people who do want it, it's hard to explain.
And one very important question- are there any scriptures that suggest that there will still be natural law in heaven just like their is today?

A "person" is a soul. See. Gen.2:7 man does not "get a soul."
Even if you could make copies of yourself in heaven, they would still technically be separate beings from you even if they had all your memories, wouldn't they?

DC
I imagine some of my ED posts have been hard to digest if you have read some of them, but I often wonder why is it people are upset over ED, are these people so perfect in love that they do not want anyone to perish? or is it something else?
Naturally I'm skeptical of anyone that claims to love all people and perhaps they have had an easy life, or don't quite live in reality, but I can see that perhaps some might be genuinly concerned, but I don't like pretenders.
But I think those who fear ED are less concerned over someone such as Jack the ripper and are more concerned over someone they know, that is not living life up to holy standards and might be a candidate for ED. I think the antidode for this fear is to realize that God came for the sick and the meek, so anyone who humbles himself will be justifed by God and even king Nebuznegger, the king of babylon, who is a shadow of the antichrist(possibly the antichrist), humbled himself before God.
:2c:
It's funny but one of my deepest fears is that all souls are eternal...because that would mean it's UR or bust. If UR is indeed true then what a glorious manifestation of God's grace. If not, and all men are eternal...then that brings up subjects that raise the hair on my neck. The fact that God could indeed end a soul seems compassionate to me. It's certainly better than the alternative if UR is not true.
As for what TT says...I would partially agree. I believe we can love mankind and truly have compassion on those who are lost. With that said, much of man's searching starts to resolve their own fears. I always wonder about those who claim "I know that I know 100%" that it happens like such and such. I think many including myself fall into the category of "I believe with all my heart that it's this way...but there is a small possibility it could be x,y or z". There are only a few "certainties" I have in my life and even with those...in my darkest hours I have my times of doubt.
Many of us want to see friends, family members who were not believers in heaven. We all want certainty of our own place with God. I know for me, I try not to let this sway my judgment on scripture. But, how could it not? I believe the Holy Spirit gives me exactly what I need from scripture for that day...no more and no less. It's why I tend to be silent on subjects which I just don't know. My stance on judgment is that "I just don't know". I don't believe in ET but I can't prove it doesn't exist. As for ED, as much as I want to see everyone saved...I find much more peace with that possibility than I do ET.

Paul considered himself among the worst of sinners. He certainly made a case for it by his actions as Saul. But, God showed his unlimited patience with us through Paul. If Paul can be saved, who is too sinful to be saved? Was Saul seeking the face of God when he was chasing and killing Christians? I know this sounds like a ridiculous scenario, but just wanted assurance that, if death is really really completely destroyed, there are no loopholes whatsoever. Not that I would ever want to commit suicide in heaven, but knowing that there is no way God would ever allow me to just gives me peace, and this scenario is the only stumbling block to this puzzle I haven't completely solved yet, but I think I've come up with something, and I would like it if people could back me up on this.
In such a scenario, something would still be dying, wouldn't it? Even if the body still stays alive the entire time through such a scenario, the mind would still die, right? Granted, it would be immediately replaced with another mind that is exactly the same memories and all, but it would still be a different mind. And since death will be completely destroyed, God won't allow your body or your mind to die in his kingdom.

Perhaps what's being erased from the Lambs book of life is not the person themselves, but it's the carnality they once identified with. "That" name/nature has been erased as we've become a new creation with a new name.

I (think I) understand your point. Your fear is that some people become unhappy in heaven. Maybe because they are bored after being 6 billion years in heaven.
God can instantly take away your immortality. I don't doubt that. But that would mean the immortality He promissed is conditional immortality. You can die on request. I think that's not what the Bible teaches. So by taking away your immortality God would break His promise. That isn't going to happen.
But God made another promise. There shall be no more tears and sorrow. I think being bored for a billion years can be seen classified as sorrow. That means God broke His promise.
So my conclusion is that heaven will be blessed with a very happy DC without even the slightest boredom or wish to die.
It's amusing watching natural minds trying to comprehend spiritual realities.
You say that like your an angel or something :laughing7:
Maybe you are one, the scriptures say that we often entertain angels unaware.
Should I call you gabriel ?
WhiteWings, I see what you mean. When pain and sorrow are gone, there's no way anyone could ever be serious about such a request.

Agreed with that conclusion. God knows exactly what we need and what to do.
Casting your cares on Him because He cares for you.

Ha! Actually what comes to mind is where all the people were watching Jesus leave one realm and enter the other and the angels then stated "Why are you looking at the clouds . . .you'll see him return just as you saw him leave . .go about the journey that's been prepared for you . . ."
Granted our minds obviously wonder and there's nothing wrong with the wonderment. I was just tongue-and-cheeking the comment . . .
Before any idea of UR had come to me, early in my walk with God, it seemed that to have the Holy Spirit's life, a kind of life that you'd even want to last forever, was miraculous.
