Title: Septuagint Proverbs 8:35
Post by: trettep on June 16, 2009, 08:02:33 AM

Proverbs 8:35  For my issues are the issues of life, and in them volition is prepared from the Lord.

Evidence from God's Word that God is the one who prepares our own volition.  So while it might be our volition it is the Lord who prepares it.  Consider Pharoh, it was still Pharoh's own volition that performed the hinderance of the Israelites from departing Egypt but God is the one that prepared that volition such that he would hinder them.

I thought that verse was interesting.  I was reading some text by Augustine of Hippo and he quotes it as:

"The will is prepared by the Lord."

This is all much different than the KJV which says:

Pro 8:35  For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.

Paul

"I know, O Yahweh, that it is not for a human to choose his way;
It is not for a man to walk and to establish his step" (Jeremiah 10:23)

I know, O Lord, that the way of man is not his own; nor shall a man go and keep his goings straight. (Septuagint)
