Title: It seems pretty logical that the world would hate Universalists
Post by: Universalist Catholic on April 03, 2010, 05:06:59 AM
Im well aware of several absurd statements made by several traditionalist churches that the more "persecution" they recieve, the more true that they believe they are right.  It is true that many people do not particularly care for those traditional churches, such as the Westboro Baptist Church and their "God hates Fags" picketing at funerals.  People tend to find door to door preachers from Mormonism, Jehovahs Witnesses, and Born Again Christians as a real nuissance, and are not too highly thought of.  On another hand, people see the Orthodox Catholics as being "holier than thou" liturgical rigidity who can be pretty nitpicky over the practices.  Then there are other religious groups who have a real strong anti-gay sentiment, bombing of abortion clinics, hypocracy, extra-biblical ordinances, legalistic, bigotry, political motivation, hate against other religions, puritanical traditions, rigidity with religious practices, constant hellfire preaching, Holier than thou attitudes, disturbance of the peace, battling against science, ect.  Many people find these ideals disgusting, and traditionalist groups find this as proof that they are "Hated for their namesake."  But it seems like the people are not hated, but merely their ideologies are hated, and rightly so.  But these ideologies all seem pretty worldly, considering they all fulfill mans most unholy desires.

Then Universalists seem to be hated by the actual world, if Im correct includes the ungodly things of the world.  Considering that most traditionalist groups are joined in political affairs, and tend to take sides(Fundamentalists and strong republican sentiment), Organized religions without that threat of Eternal hell would fail, considering that they have no ability to make the claim to being the chosen people, let alone keep people in their control through their means of fear of Eternal Punishment.  Corporations would no longer be able to satisfy peoples gospel of money, plus they would no longer be able to sell all that garbage put out taking advantage of peoples fears, such as Bill Weise, Mary Baxter, and 2012 propaganda they sell.  Not to mention, societal worldly affairs would be null and void, such as a desire for revenge, being higher than others,(racism, sexism, ageism, denominationalism, ect).
