English-How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?
Greek-πόσῳ δοκεῖτε χείρονος ἀξιωθήσεται τιμωρίας ὁ τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ θεοῦ καταπατήσας καὶ τὸ αἷμα τῆς διαθήκης κοινὸν ἡγησάμενος, ἐν ᾧ ἡγιάσθη, καὶ τὸ πνεῦμα τῆς χάριτος ἐνυβρίσας;
χείρονος τιμωρίας translated means sever or worse punishment. I've seen discussions on the differences between κόλασις which is corrective punishment and τιμωρία which some say means vengeful punishment. To make matters worse add the adjective χείρονος which means worse or sever and you have a very bad situation for anyone that tramples under foot Christ. Does this mean that there is a future punishment that will be far worse than anything or is this punishment as bad as it is still corrective?
I myself see this as ....
if God is Love ..... Love gave birth to grace ..... so don't trample grace
and also ... I do not see it as punishment, but chastisement ... it is a greater chastisement, meaning the person that tramples grace will have to go through a more corrective (or longer) process than the one who doesn't

I sometimes think (also) believers who cling to Et (untruth, especially Et?) will be "caught unawares" by the evils of their day..
