John 1:17
For the law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Romans 6:14
Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law.  Instead you live under the freedom of God's grace.

Philippians 3:9
to be found in Him.  I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through the faith of Christ.  For God's way of making us right with Himself depends on faith

NO RIGHTEOUSNESS OF MINE  Neil Barham, 2005

No righteousness of mine
Can stand before the Throne,
But Christ's own perfect works are now my very own!
IN CHRIST I'M FREE!
The Cross of Christ made peace with God for even me!

The holy law of God
That once declared my death
Now whispers 'All is well' with Jesus' dying breath!
Once dead, now raised!
His glorious Cross puts Death to death!  Let Christ be praised!

Now Sinai holds no fear!
Its fiery curses fade,
Outshined by rays of grace in Calvary's love displayed!
In worship, fall!
Adore the Son of God whose outpoured blood HEALS ALL!

Very good, Anna. It is important for christians not to consign themselves under the law. Rather, we must do like Jesus and see the great commandments in the law, and take them to heart, and disregard the rest. And in the end not even these great commandments save us because we can't fulfill them completely, and will always need God's love and grace to forgive us and take us along with God into the future. We never become independent of God and can never be entirely righteous, only a righteousness of faith is open to us, and this righteousness is Christ's and we only borrow it so as not to be naked.
