Just had a fleeting thought and thought i would post this in hope of getting more indepth thoughts that others might share:
2 Timothy 3:10-17 -
10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, 11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
The bolded (vs 13) is what has stuck in my mind. Since i believe that for the first 400 or so years the reconcilliation of all was dominant in the teachings of the church, and also Pauls' teaching reconcilliation of all, he stated that decievers will wax worse and worse.
Since this (reconcilliation of all) was the predominant teaching of the church from the beginning and et was the minority teaching and now has become the dominant teaching today it seems to me this was what paul was refering to.
Any thoughts yall?

Good stuff. What strikes me is the first verse. Paul had a manner of life, patience, love and so on at the core of his teachings. This is what makes what someone teaches real or not I think. A good example is the new guy here, ChosenofGod. I do not, in any real way, sense any of these traits that Paul had, in Chosen. Some are there to be sure but something very false overshadows Chosens 'ministry'.
Now I am not saying that Chosen is any more evil than I am but when Paul goes on to talk about evil men waxing worse and worse I hear him saying that it is our motives that make us genuine or not. Our motives.
I have put forth (taught) what I consider wrong doctrine in the past but when I taught in humility with a desire to learn the result in my life and the life of others was way different than when I taught with a superior and prideful attitude. Whether what I teach is right or wrong, it is the motive and the attitude that matters much, and by which I shall be judged IMO.

Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.
The Bible specifically says that teachers will be judged more strictly than other Christians, by being held to a higher standard. It is sobering for those of us who teach that nothing like this is said of apostles, prophets, evangelists, or any other ministry. Why then is it stated for teachers? The answer lies in the importance God places upon right doctrine. In our ecumenical culture of "go along to get along," the importance of truth, and even the fact that there is such a thing as truth, is often lost. However, Christians can be assured that the value of "right" and "truth" is never lost to God. Truth sets people free, but error enslaves. There is a truth, there is that which is "right," and God wants us to know it (1 Tim. 2:4).
