ET ... not just for the guilty anymore

I had a talk this afternoon with an old JW and a younger man who believed in ET.  The JW and I were on the side of no hell, and no ET.  The other fellow and I were theologically more similar, but he was adamant about ET and the necessity thereof.  The punishment for having made the mistake of not accepting Jesus in this life is eternal.

As I was listening I realized that there were tears in my eyes.  I realized (a) how far I'ld actually moved away from the notion of eternal torment and punishment, and (b) that I had never had any real idea about what was involved in having to believe in it.  I asked the younger man:  "how long must someone be punished for missing the boat, for making a mistake, for not getting it right?"  He said "forever".  I almost wept in public.  The JW smiled at me.

I told the man, let's say that someone killed someone I loved very dearly.  My first reaction is gonna be, send him to hell; I'm sure I would be furious.  Then let's say I meet the person who was killed in Heaven: we hang out, we spend the day to day of eternity together.  Let's say a million years pass (that seems like a long time to me).  During that million years, I see the one who killed my love, suffer torment and torture continually.  There would come a time when I would go to God and say, "Please Father, let them go."  "Please God, they have had enough ... if you can't release them from their misery, could you release them from mine."  There would come a time when it would be torture for me to see someone going through that for eternity.  Could I really be happy in Heaven (or where ever we think we will be), knowing that someone else is actually being deliberately tormented and tortured.  I don't think so.

So, the ET would be not just for those in hell, but for some of us in Heaven as well.

...and the sickness goes even further with some ET preachers saying we will be able to see their torment and misery and we (in heaven) will be glad and rejoice because God is dispensing justice. Folks, it doesn't get much sicker than that. :sigh:

Yet, they will tell you with a sparkle in their eye, "God loves you, and has a wonderful Plan for your life..."  Yeah, a good chance of Hell (according to ET)!  I wonder about that Plan, and how they fail to see the consequences of their belief.  We're going to scupper God's Plan eternally?  Think not.
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

I can't handle knowing it ded.  They are saying God would make me watch, and I will be glad to see someone else in pain?  I can't handle watching professional wrestling because they show guys in pain, and I know they are acting.   Too true ded, it just doesn't get any sicker than that.
