Title: A Course of Lectures in Defence of the Final Restoration
Post by: martincisneros on February 08, 2010, 09:18:25 PM
I finally managed to track down a copy of a book I've been [diligently] looking for, for about 10yrs, and I'm downloading the PDF right now.  I didn't realize Google books had PDF links.  At least, the time or two I was deeply interested in a copy of other stuff, I never saw the link before.  Perhaps a former computer compatability issue if it was always a feature of their site, or because I've never been a collector of PDF files, the link never really yelled at me before.  Adobe used to freeze my computer up badly, or at least appear like it was going to, but hasn't been behaving that way the last few months.  I'm going to be gone for the rest of the year, but would love to come back to some feedback about this book. All I've heard about it, [over the years,] puts it up there with Elhanan Winchester:
A Course of Lectures in Defence of the Final Restoration  (http://books.google.com/books?id=0uLvg-j6wc4C&printsec=frontcover&dq=A+Course+of+Lectures+in+Defence+of+the+Final+Restoration&source=bl&ots=bgC5CTHHtO&sig=AQ7jPeVdAzP9ClhqOGgH4GoOCnc&hl=en&ei=H1pwS6bbNY754Ab656WYBQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CAcQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=&f=false)

One of the many UR books on Google.
Google is impartial on which books it carries so I think it gives a fair idea of what has been written in the past.
About every year ET books are published. But UR books all seem to be published in the 1800's. And late 1900's ofcouse.
Any idea why?

Good question and I do not know if I have the answer, an answer, or if my own life just lends me to speculate.

I know of all the churches (not saying all churches are this way) I have been in and the way I was raised, the teaching of UR would have removed much of the emotional leverage people had over me to try to get me to do what they wanted.

Another guess on my part as well, but I wonder if it had to with the resurgence of UR during that time period, especially in America?

Here are a few current ones I'd recommend - I have The Noble Berean - really good summary of UR, God's plan, God's will, the purpose of evil, etc.  Thomas is a friend of Gary's and Tentmaker's, crediting TM with helping him "find" UR.

THE GLORY OF GOD AND THE HONOR OF KINGS: A DAILY DEVOTIONAL THAT PROCLAIMS THE UNLIMITED LOVE AND POWER OF GOD.

The Noble Berean ,  The Noble Berean 2, and the upcoming release of The Noble Berean 3

I'm back. Wasn't needed for anywhere near as long as I thought I'd be needed on another matter entirely that I was willing to give absolutely all of my time to, but same ol' same ol'. roflol  People are time wasters if you'll let 'em be, when they have absolutely no intention of demanding of themselves what they seem all too ready to demand of someone else.  And if there's any one single thing I'm stronger than gunpowder soup on, is if I am ever moved towards mentoring 'cause that's when I spank, electrocute, or whatever's needed. roflol  Especially when I know someone's been a total liar, so... I keep it real and demand the same, as I rightly should.

Hoping for some feedback on this particular book itself, though. roflol

As to the matter on there being seasons on when UR titles will breakout and then it seems like years of nothing being published along these lines, some of that is because we're not acquainted with all of the titles. I've bumped into titles before that were published in the 60s and 70s, but have never bumped into those titles again and couldn't bring up the titles that I heard of.  We're needing a thorough online data base on books, years they came out and their publishers, etc., that's exhaustive and updated often enough to be exhaustive.

I have a suggestion for that Martin.
Start a sticky thread.
Everyone posts his/her info there.
Then the crew puts the info on the list in the first post.
I wonder how many have read all of the books on TM.
Not a secret I hope; lot's of free stuff on www.books.google.com
