I'd like to post this on my other post about the fear of dying but I believe it is of a different substance. So I am starting a new post. It still perhaps has to do with the fear of dying, but it is more about how one feels, thinks, and considers about dying and deaths absolute.
You are a believer, one who believes that when you die you go to a far better place. You have been as good as you can by His grace, you believe. You have taken care of you body[temple] by all the health standards you believe are good for you. And you are told you have a disease, be it cancer or something other, but you are told to will die in a short time.
Now here is the query, why does this person who believes in God and His Son Jesus make the decision to see doctors and maybe more doctors in hopes to be healed or cured?
We know why loved ones have a great want for you to be made well, but why do you seek a healing when you know that when you die you will so much better off?
Why does this person cling to this life when that person believes that it is a far better place, with life more abundant that is the destination?
Does holding on to this life with so much hope decrease your faith?
Because doctors [and nurses] are a gift from God.
And, because we are appointed to life, not to death.
Therefore, choose Life!

Molly are you not speaking in two different realms?
Heb 9:27 And, inasmuch as it is in store for men—once for all to die, but after this, judgment,
I know about dying daily and that it is now we who are dead are being judged now, but that does not erase that all men must die death, expire, quit breathing. The life man was appointed in Genesis was life that was to die. Be that spiritually or physically.

Micah we go round and round robinhood's barn with this.
Why do you act as if Jesus never did his work on the cross for you?
We are no longer in the 'old covenant.' Read the whole sentence.
You think you can die better than Jesus?
27And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
28
So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
--Heb 9
And since
we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him.
--Rom 6:8
Like I said you speak in two absolutely different realms. Should you truly believe that you[your natural physical] body does not have to die, well so be it. There will be no round robin. I understand what you say, but I fear thats about it.
My natural physical body is a tent, a temporary dwelling.
I will be given an immortal dwelling.
But, no matter when this happens, we are commanded by God to choose life.
Deuteronomy 30:19
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
Yes but you use the OT as a verification, but I am not allowed?
Paul said 1Co 15:50 And, this, I say, brethren,—that, flesh and blood, cannot inherit, God's kingdom. Neither doth, corruption, inherit, incorruption.
Besides I really believe that you bring up the incorrect life when you say "therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:"
From what I have read there is no need for a "seed", that function does not exist in the spiritual.
Why would Jesus sayJoh 10:10...." I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.
Do you really believe that "life" abundantly is this life here on earth that has only the destination of death, is to be more abundant?
1Pe 1:24 because All flesh is grass, And all its glory is as the flower of grass. Withered is the grass, And the flower falls off..."
Yes, I most certainly do believe that life abundantly means this life here on earth and forevermore, world without end.
Nor do I believe that the destination of my life is death. Good grief. If I believed that, I would cut my wrists tongiht.
I believe in unending life, and that we should always choose life, that he is the Spirit of life, that he IS life.
Of course, what Moses is saying to them is choose Jesus!
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life
--John 14:6
1 John 5:20 We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true--even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
Im sorry, I do not believe that banging my head on this brick wall is worthy of the pain that will come of it. :HeartThrob:
Micah,my Brother
then why don't we say 'curse God,and die"? Job held on because he was convinced...yet in this flesh I will behold my redeemer

No one wants to die even though they know someday they will. I think in the back of the mind it is hard for anyone to accept that one is going to die. We always think it will happen to the other person and never associate it to ourselves, don't you think?
Quote from: Micah
We know why loved ones have a great want for you to be made well, but why do you seek a healing when you know that when you die you will so much better off?
This is another reason for not wanting to die we know we will leave our loved ones behind and we don't really know what is ahead of us.
Quote from: Micah

Does holding on to this life with so much hope decrease your faith?
I don't think it is because Jesus said "to choose life", because how can we choose whether we will live or die? I don't think we will have a say in living or dying. If we could choose whether we live or die, I don't think anyone would choose to die. If everyone knew they could choose to live forever and would, I am sure they would choose life.
I don't know whether wanting to hold on to life will decrease our faith or not, I would say, "more than likely,no". I think it is a natural thing to want to live because this life is all we know, why would we want to be rid of it? Even though some have the nerve of committing suicide which I do not have.
Have you ever wondered why most of the people who think you go on to heaven when you die, visit the grave where their loved one is buried and put flowers on it? Why is that, if they are not there?
Well, I have always said," live life as if it is your last day because someday it will be". Who does that?
CHB
Another thing to consider...
When Jesus spoke with hIS DISCIPLES ABOUT GOING TO THE fATHER..HE SAID...YOU ARE UNABLE TO GO NOW...YOU WILL FOLLOW LATER...
AND THEY DID...LATER.
HE MUST ENABLE THOSE TO LAY DOWN THEIR LIFE WILLINGLY...NO-ONE CAN DO A SINGLE THING OF THEMSELVES....THE SPIRIT MUST
PREPARE PEOPLE FOR THIS. DID YOU NOTICE WHEN THE TIME COME..THE APOSTLE'S KNEW IT WAS APPROACHING? THE SPIRIT REVEALED IT TO THEM
IF YOU LAY DOWN YOUR LIFE..AND HAVE NOT LOVE...IT IS MEANINGLESS

I think that's a (good) way to look at it. But you can also argue clinging on to your life is a way of saying thanks.
Life is not quite the same on the other side. There are some things to enjoy in this life, such as learning mysteries, knowledge.
Sometimes I wonder what exactly will I be doing in the after life, where will be the discoveries?
CHB thank you for reasoning with the question, I like what you said about going to the grave yard. And WW like wise, perhaps staying alive here is a way of saying thanks.
For me this life I have lived is a good one, I like living and breathing, playing with my grandchildren, and visiting with family and friends. I have tried to stay healthy by exercise and eating good. When I consider it with the mind I used to have {for I am now a new creature and the old things have passed away and I have the mind of Christ.}
I reason and think like what you all have stated, I also daily embrace taking that last step, hopefully not painful, but I know that to leave this world..this life..that is temporary and I look for that temporary to end more than I wish it to keep going.
So why then why do I sing of being with Him? .....I sing because I have a desire to be with Him NOW.
Why is death and dying the way to life, whether I speak of the spirit or the natural? ....Death is the way to life.
Do I not have to DIE to have life to the ages? ......Yes, I must die to have life to the ages.
And when I died "spiritually" as some say, why did I not fight to stay alive rather than die "spiritually? ...And even though He called me to His Son, I had to be dragged from that natural life.
