I have a question it may seem simple, even shallow, and maybe deep depending on the person. Though for me it is quite serious. My query is just what is a BELIEVER or a SAINT? I don't mean what is a "Christian" which is a word, in my opinion as abused and thrown around as the word "god" when we are speaking of the Word. The God I believe in has a name JEHOVAH/JESUS/LORD
Virtue: bravery, strength, boldness, honor, goodness, behavior, worthiness, merit. These are attributes (structure, a badge, peculiarity) that I believe make up a BELIEVER/SAINT. But should a person who believes, yet carries faults and weaknesses that are ominous to what religion and Christianity have coded and have become accustomed to within their walls, does a BELIEVER/SAINT carrying those weights have a chance of welcome as a BELIEVER/SAINT?
I hope I have made my wondering clear.
I have found in my religious/christian walk/journey that when a believer is infected(I chose the word it seemed proper) that it is up to the that particular organization/church/club to "cure" the subject. But then I began to wonder, just who am I to judge? What "things" outside of how I believe, what weights should "I" should lay upon my brother or sister? He/she believes and believes Truth, but is weaker than I in the world perhaps, am I any better? I said no. What do I know how the Lord offers His grace? And to who in what stage does His mercy begin? I know nothing.
I ask many times at night, how long was the young man in the pig sty? How many pig sty's before he came to the knowledge that his father was still his father and well off? As the Psalmist writes "How long Lord....How long." Time, is was, and will be and man must deal with it's length in what ever intervals.

Salvation. Stretching out our withered hand to find that it has been healed.
Fainting not. Holding on for dear life because we know that in the the other direction there is no life.
First word that popped into my mind was disciple. Disciplined one. Discipleship carries with it a badge of a worker. Badges and pride go together.
Romans 5:5 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

There is a lot of doctrine to sort through as a Christian. Doctrines have an effect on how we see, and interact in the world. There are very few doctrines that I am on board with 100%. As a skeptic, I have to trust that light will be given if I stay faithful and faint not. Am I a believer saint? Heck yes, I love what is in the word of life. I am drawn to the message of Christ, and it drives me a little crazy. I'd rather be done with it, but I guess that is why gravestones say Rip.
A believer is someone who believes....
Obviously it ranges from very weak to very strong faith.
Saint are a sub-group; same for the elect.
The sub-group saints is split up in even more groups. For example in Deut 33:2 they are angels and in 2 Chr 6:41 they are human.

The Bible holds up Abraham as the best example of what God wants from a believer. Abraham was a believer, but when you study out the Jewish meaning of faith (enumah) it carries the connotation of faithfulness, loyalty, which is why Abraham put his son on an altar for God, because he was loyal and obedient.
A believer, can be one who only has belief but nothing else, or it can be one who "walks in steps of faith of our father Abraham."

A saint is anyone who has been "set apart", hagion, from hagiomos(set apart, holy, sanctified- these three words are all from one word hagios). If you are washed in the blood, connected to Jesus by grace through faith, you are a saint.

Jesus is the saint (set apart one, holy one)of saints, and their are saints (set apart ones, overcomers, holy ones)among the saints,but this is a matter of calling and election and grace, imo.

Well, thank you, except I don't really understand, ".....some live in a more sanctified/holy(hagiosmos) manner than others,...." should we be held not one greater than another, that thought...is well, has somewhat of a self-righteousness taint to it. I am sure that was not the intent. But should one "live in a more sanctified/holy(hagiosmos) manner than others,..." I would not put trust in that person. :dsunny:

i did not say anyone was greater than anyone else. I said some believers live in a more "saintly manner" than others. The key to what I am saying is the meaning of the word saint, I am not passing judgment, I am explaining the meaning of the word(however poorly), which is hagiosmos, "holy one" from hagios, "holy/set apart/sanctified".
Who are to judge the potter for how He frames His vessels. I am not a particularly holy man, but I am made holy, I hav been set apart by the cleansing of the blood the water and the spirit. Samson was not a particularly holy man, and He paid a price for it, yet still did great things by the grace of God.
Acknowledging that some believers live as saints while some live as if they were not is not judging or making anyone greater than anyone else. Not to acknowledge it would require the excising of the first 3 chapters of 1 Corinthians and a great number of other verses.

Those believers who live like saints receive a reward, those who don't may lose their reward, which is the crown of life. It has nothing to do with eternal life or reconciliation.
But that is what the scriptures say about walking in the spirit, "Be renewed in the spirit of your mind" "The mind set on the spirit is life and peace, to be carnally minded is death"...."If any man abide in me he will bear fruit, if anyone does not abide in me they will dry up as a branch and be cut off and men will gather them and throw them into the fire"......There is a wide road that leads to death and many are walking on it, there is a narrow road that leads to life and few find it".
These distinctions are not about lesser and greater.... they are about true or false, deep or shallow, spiritual or carnal.
This is a matter of God's grace and the secrets of the hearts.... I'm not talking about cleaning the outside of the vessel. :o)
If you would not not put your trust in someone who is living a life set apart to God, you are talking about religion and missing what I am talking about. True holiness is love and humility and tasting of and walking in the divine nature of Jesus and is unmistakable. Thats what the word hagios is about- set apart from man, including man's religion- set apart as a clay vessel bearing within the divine nature- Jesus. :o) Thats the call of all believers.

Where is a distinction that makes a saint greater or allowed more privileges than a believer? I just looked up saints in the KJV and here they are, please show me your privileged distinction for one over the other?

But we are warned several times about wolves in sheep's clothing not sparing the flock. Regardless of who is called a saint, a time will come when the wheat are separated from the tares and all is exposed. And I believe the scriptures are clear that this separation is based on works, whether thier conduct reflected the holiness expected of a believer.
