The word for truth in Hebrew is אמת. It consists of the first letter of the alephbet, the middle letter, and the last letter.
The word for falsehood in Hebrew is שקר. It consists of three letters all right next to each other.
We can learn something from these two words on a deeper level, concerning what makes up truth, and what makes up falsehood.
Truth involves letters that begin at the beginning, continue through the middle, and on until the very end of the alephbet.
Truth therefore, can be said to be when we look at the entire picture of something.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In contrast, falsehood involves letter that begin, continue, and end all together at a limited part of the alephbet.
Falsehood therefore, can be said to be when someone only looks at a small facet of the whole of something.
Whether we are talking about Universal Reconciliation, or any other thing on this message board, or in our relationship with those around us, may the mental picture I hope I have put in your minds serve us all well in being able and equipped to always see and speak the truth.
Ronen
Thank you for this Ronen !
I find it amazing !
I know that God works in mysterious ways , upon humanity
but when you can spiritually ''see'' Him doing something marvelous , you can only rejoice in him !!
My sister and I were talking about, '' what is truth ?'' just a couple of days ago
I thought of Pilate , asking Jesus ''What is truth ?'' and unbeknown to this man , he knew in his heart what was truth , by what he declared and done !!
He saw no fault in Jesus Christ and told them so and washed his hands of the innocent blood!! and it troubled him that they wanted to put Christ to death !
I thought of James 4 in the scriptures
wash your hands you sinners of shedding innocent blood obedience is better than sacrifice ! This applying to us all in the sense of TRUTH!! :HeartThrob:
7Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom....
Seeing Pilate as the example of knowing the truth and being set free !! and Him being carnal and yet the Spirit of truth was dealing within him .
...37Therefore Pilate said to Him, "So You are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice." 38Pilate said to Him, "What is truth?" And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews and said to them, "I find no guilt in Him. 39"But you have a custom that I release someone for you at the Passover; do you wish then that I release for you the King of the Jews?"...
Three questions in our quest in searching for God , for me was What is truth ? , What is Spirit ? , and What is Love ?
Those are the simple yet very profound answers I needed to settle me down from my double mindedness and the struggle of have both minds one of heaven and one of the earth and how to make them reconcile with each other , Knowing now having to exchange one for the other , because both were driving me crazy!!
needing the'' mind of Christ '' being pure and holy before God and the carnal mind that stayed in fear and torment and misery of God
I now know that the Truth has set me free , because while under the law and in falsehood and the carnal mind had to be '' bound '' so the mind of Christ could rule and reign in me , being first what was last and what was first was the carnal mind and make it last or past being behind me
I thought when you said , The falsehood can be said to be when someone only looks at a small facet of the whole of something.
I SAY AMEN!!! Great observation Ronen !!!
When those religious leaders ''caught the woman in the act of adultery '' and wanted to stone her to death , under the law you die without mercy under two or 3 witnesses
But Jesus knowing all the hearts and having the SPIRIT OF TRUTH knows the beginning to the end of everyone's hearts and lives
He let them know if they wanted to follow the law truthfully , they could only kill her if they were perfect and they all knew in their hearts they were not by the
Spirit of truth[GOD ] in them and left one by one , and being alone with her , Jesus acquitted her error , showing mercy and told her how to live in the
Spirit of truth , her experience with Jesus changed her course and life by Holy Spirit conviction a formal declaration that someone is guilty of a criminal offense, made by the verdict of a jury or the decision of a judge in a court of law:[ the Law of Love and mercy ]
synonyms: declaration of guilt · sentence · judgment
a firmly held belief or opinion
I am so thankful to God right now for letting us know things openly , some things I knew in my heart and yet they were hidden from my eyes of understanding them things
I believe this is happening to so many right now or just maybe its true we are becoming spiritually aware of what pleases God though the Life of Christ
:HeartThrob: I sure do enjoy your studies brother , many here have blessed my socks off and helped me discover and uncover ''hidden truths ''
in Gods holy ways and mysteries and revealing Himself to us , Jesus is the Light of the World and truth is being seen and heard and known in our hearts
Truly joy comes in the morning light as the DAY dawns/rises in us :dsunny:
Rose, I love your example of Pilate. Here is a man staring truth in the face, and yet, because he only sees a man in a tiny space and time, he feels the need to ask what truth is. Today is no different, for so many look at Yeshua as a baby in a Christmas scene, or someone who walked around for a few years as a great man, only seeing him from a limited perspective of history; not realizing that he is the beginning and the end of it all, which is connected to what truth is all about...history is contained in him. I thank our Father, even despite my idiocy when acting out of my flesh, that he continues to be truth revealed to us in our hearts. :dsunny:
Ronen
So, truth covers the whole of the alephbet. This puts me in mind of two things:
1. I think of Charles Fort's dictum that a theory must account for all the data. Truth covers the whole, takes everything in, and thus is proved with rigor.
2. Most of what passes for Christian Theology [theo-illogical?] consists of verses ripped from their proper context, thrown in with a few others, also separated from context, and whipped into a theological premise which does not compare itself with the whole of the message of God's Word. I call it "Buffet Theology," because it's like going to a buffet and taking, say, peas and orange jello, and telling your table mates that what you have on your plate represents the whole buffet. There are no shortcuts, for we must follow what Isaiah told us - line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little, there a little. That is how we are weaned from the milk of the Word, and move on to Strong Meat.
Ah!! God bless you both
my brothers!
I know the imaginary of ones mind builds and gathers things in the natural mind to make an idol , = representation of a god and being an object of worship
the HOLY SPIRIT tears down these strongholds and power of principalities we ''build up in our minds eye '' of an image or idea
When in actuality our short lives of being human are but a watch in the night
and how when you consider Gods wisdom and how infinite it really is compared to a mortal existence I AM IN AWE OF GOD !!
Living in my own falsehood was this short realm of existence not considering the LORD or his ways
Something helped me to see this was found in Psalms 90
and I have to have plain speech to ''catch the drift '' lol so to speak and when I was contemplating Moses prayer to God how a man sees this mortal life as wrath of God for a moment , but His mercy endures with no ending , it is hard for my little pea brain to fathom !! TRUTH IS
Psalm 90
A prayer of Moses, the man of God.
1 Lord, through all the generations
you have been our home!
2 Before the mountains were born,
before you gave birth to the earth and the world,
from beginning to end, you are God.
3 You turn people back to dust, saying,
"Return to dust, you mortals!"
4 For you, a thousand years are as a passing day,
as brief as a few night hours.
5 You sweep people away like dreams that disappear.
They are like grass that springs up in the morning.
6 In the morning it blooms and flourishes,
but by evening it is dry and withered.
7 We wither beneath your anger;
we are overwhelmed by your fury.
8 You spread out our sins before you—
our secret sins—and you see them all.
9 We live our lives beneath your wrath,
ending our years with a groan.
10 Seventy years are given to us!
Some even live to eighty.
But even the best years are filled with pain and trouble;
soon they disappear, and we fly away.
11 Who can comprehend the power of your anger?
Your wrath is as awesome as the fear you deserve.
12 Teach us to realize the brevity of life,
so that we may grow in wisdom.
13 O Lord, come back to us!
How long will you delay?
Take pity on your servants!
14 Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love,
so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.
15 Give us gladness in proportion to our former misery!
Replace the evil years with good.
16 Let us, your servants, see you work again;
let our children see your glory.
17 And may the Lord our God show us his approval
and make our efforts successful.
Yes, make our efforts successful!
AND THAN WE SEE JESUS COME IN THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH
and begin to see no man after the flesh any longer not EVEN JESUS CHRIST!
SPIRIT &TRUTH the Father seeks those to worship Him in these two unfathomable things from the heart
I also was thankful to find the wisdom in Ecclesiastes 3:11
11 He has made everything beautiful in its time.
He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end
.
This has been such a blessing discovering today , love to all :HeartThrob:
Psa 119:160 The sum of Your word is truth, And all of Your righteous ordinances are eonian."
Beautiful thoughts and words everyone. Thanks, great way to start the morning.
Ephesians 3:17-21 CLV 17 Christ to dwell in your hearts through faith, that you, having been rooted and grounded in love,
18 should be strong to grasp, together with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and depth and height"
19 to know the love of Christ as well which transcends knowledge - that you may be completed for the entire complement of God.
20 Now to Him Who is able to do superexcessively above all that we are requesting or apprehending, according to the power that is operating in us,
21 to Him be the glory in the ecclesia and in Christ Jesus for all the generations of the eon of the eons! Amen!
Beautiful post. Truth has a center. We know who He is. His arms are spread wide to embrace all- alpha to omega, beginning to end, east to west.
