Jonah was the equivalent as a spirit in prison. Perhaps the ribs forming the bars of the prison. No light. Just like being buried.

A tomb is still considered in the ground. It is made up of earthly materials. People buried outside Denver are considered "in the groud" even though they are 5,000 feet above sea level.

So, IMO, we can say Jesus was wrong because he wasn't buried in the ground or we can accept that the sun "rises in the east"
and people will be brought from "the four corners of the world"
The question is, does this nitpickingchange your spiritual life or make you see God as a liar(or at least wrong)?
Jesus did NOT say his life was parralel to Jonah's except for the 3 days and 3 nights. Just as Isaac was a type of Jesus it wasn't in everything but only in the patriarch(Abraham) willing to sacrifice his only first born son.

Nisan 14 can fall on different days of the week..but is a 'sabbath'  there are differing opionions on this..

  whether actual 72 hour period..or those days cut short lest no flesh be saved,I don't know. It is not an issue with me,either way

as to my knowing the Messiah/lamb of God was come in the flesh as Jesus Christ.

Ferrar Fenton's version says Jonah was picked up by a ship named "The Great Fish."  He states in a footnote:

"Great Fish" was the name of the ship mistranslated "Whale" in the version of the Greek translators, whose blunder has been repeated by all subsequent translators, in all languages, to the perplexity of their readers, until I decided to go back to the original statement of the prophet in his own Hebrew.

Anyway, note that Jonah was a type of Christ, and his preaching saved ALL the people of Nineveh, which is a very telling example of Universal Salvation/Reconciliation.  In history, most of the Assyrians, after the fall of their Empire, migrated North and West with the Israelites, and became the Prussians, who have been staunch Christians for many centuries.  Jonah did good.  There are to this day people in the Middle East who still identify themselves as Assyrians - I worked with one, a few jobs ago.

Jesus died near Passover, a spring feast. (March-April)
Atonement day is a fall feast. (September-Oktober)
