Romans 12 (Amplified Bible)
Romans 12
1I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.
2Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
Apart from this admonition, one simply can not mature.
:cloud9: This is very true. We must be willing to be "planted" as a seed is planted (living sacrifice), to gain a harvest (Christ). Blessings....
So many seem to miss this scripture, Card, that this is:
Our reasonable service.

The amazing thing about this though is that many folks who are not religious or have EVER been conformed to institutional church or have much formal knowledge
of the scriptures are the ones who seem to be doing most of these things considered resonable service, noticably so more than the religious often times but go unnoticed by the religious status quo and are considered or even pursecuted and accused as the outcasts, the no counts, the hertics and such while all the time they are giving this reasonable service and their love for others is deep and true, not a to the letter paint job, maybe they are not much on lip service or draw large crowds but they are big on the "spiritual heart" service.
You are very well speaking the truth here, "be not conformed to this world" many folks seem to have religious dilexia on this subject and they get "your reasonable service " confused with being in conformity to the things of this world especialy where religion is concerned, this is the very type of unity in the letter (the flesh) that built high towers in Babylon and Babylon is fallen
because it is the spirit that brings life, the letter kills.

God is a Spirit and we must worship him in spirit and in truth. That is reasonable service.
Yes, without that there is only a showing of visable religious motions of worship, may appear good in what is seen but dead in what is not seen.
