Title: the gospel and your mindset
Post by: Abigail on July 12, 2021, 04:24:45 PM
Hi everybody,

When God revealed the real and full gospel to me (UR) about 8 years ago, that meant a huge difference in my relationship with Him, the way I saw people, the way I saw life, the future... shortly said, my mindset made a big shift for the good.

Recently I became aware of the following.

When I see UR just as one of many doctrines and do not pay much attention to it, there is a tendency in me to go back to old ways of thinking. One thing is that I relate to other christians who don't believe UR. Yet most christians never speak about hell, just like I never paid much attention to it. Another thing is that there is still a lot of old mindsets in me that I have not been aware of. I feel the believe in hell (whether it be an eternal torture chamber or a nicer kind of hell) unconsciously has affected me (and many others) in so many ways in my thinking. These are still present in me, and get stronger when I am not focused on the beautiful and complete gospel.

The main things I see rising their ugly heads in my thinking and feeling are: conditional love, fear of God being against me or I being against God when failing/struggling, or Him leaving me alone, the feeling that God is indifferent and only interested in me when I'm very spiritual, and pray full of faith. The very feeling of me not fulfilling the conditions immediately drives me away from simple trust.

I've struggled with these feelings all my christian life and I just start to see these are all rooted in the belief in the possibility that God might leave you forever (ET). I'm aware my mind has to be renewed further. That even though God showed me His ultimate plan, these thoughts and feelings are rooted so deeply in me.

Well, anyway, I'm seeking to fully get rid of all those traces, since I'm so aware it cripples my trust in our Father.

I was wondering if any of you recognize this, and how God has helped you overcoming this and to have your minds renewed.

Recognise that very well.
One of Satan's titles is the accuser. Every mistake we have made and will make is pointed out to us from the accuser.
I struggled many years with the mistakes I made and the feeling of not doing enough to be confident of my salvation.
I have only been released from this because of being made aware that His provision NEVER fails.
His work not mine.
Hence assured completely.

I have struggled as well with not feeling confident in my salvation over mistakes that I've made. I also have a tendency to fear that God has abandoned me. However, as of late God has shown me events from my pre-Christian life and post-Christian life to reveal I guess you could call it a code to show me that I am saved. And UR has been very much a part of my Christian walk and is connected to the code that I was shown.

Our life is an ongoing process.
This stage, although temporary, is gaining wisdom through experience.
We get to see the difference between our efforts and God's provision.
We only get to differentiate when those differences are revealed to us at the right time by God,  not man.
Christ's works and sacrifice NAILED ALL our sins and mistakes to the cross. No man can remove them from the cross.
Not many churches teach this fact.
So, the purpose of those disasters and memories of our sins is to teach us the truth about what to value and the difference between our ways and God's ways.
End result of being declared children of God through Christ is irrefutable.
NOTHING can keep us from the love of God through Christ
NO THING
