I see a lot of people confused by what is meant by the Chosen but you don't have to be. As long as you look to your schoolmaster in the OT. Let's see it clearly by looking at the 'type' provided by the Levites.
The Levites were CHOSEN to be Priests in the Temple. Those chosen in this dispensation are chosen for the very same reason.
As we know God didn't exclude the rest of the tribes of Israel, He simply CHOSE a specific Tribe to use as His servants in the sanctifying of the remainder of Israel. Now all mankind is part of Israel because the Gentiles have been grafted in. Therefore, those CHOSEN in this dispensation are being chosen to reign with their High Priest (Jesus Christ) in bringing atonement of sins to the remainder of the all mankind.
So if we look at the OT we can see the 'type' that serves to teach us of that which is Spiritual in context. So it is an earthly thing trying to teach us about Heavenly things.
Great post, trettep! And I am sure that in the same way the Jewish believers were amazed when it was revealed that the Gentiles had been given repentance unto salvation after Peter preached to the household of Cornelius, so many Christians will be amazed when they receive the revelation that God has purchased all of mankind by the blood of Christ!
Oh Yes! And they have absolutely no choice in the matter! Just as they had no choice in bearing the image of the corrupt..they shall
ALL BE CHANGED!For the choosing does not depend upon man..but upon God! And He has chose that ALL men shall be saved!
He has chosen mercy and deliverance of man..from sin and death!!!!!!He did not create man simply for nothing![vanity] but for
His holy spirit to dwell in them! Glory! not vanity! Thus..the creature was subjected to vanity......in the HOPE THAT THE
WHOLE CREATION SHALL BE SET FREE INTO THE GLORIOUS FREEDOM OF THE SONS OF GOD!!!!!!!!!
Amen, amen! Shev, Trettep and Sheila!
..and the Levites (and Aaronites of the Levites) were not special - were not more intelligent or more virtuous, etc.. The call made them 'special' but that was an act of Yahweh.. "that none may boast"
How totally wise He is!! (Understatement! )

Yes, that is true. They did nothing to gain that office. They were given it. Good thing to point out.

The Not (yet) Chosen --
From Mat 25:46 "And these shall go away into aionios punishment.."
- "
punishment" is G2851 - "kolasis - penal infliction, punishment, correction"
which is derived from G2849 - "kolazō from kolos (
dwarf);
properly to curtail, (figuratively) to chastise"
...the many, I believe will be corrected and curtailed.. and I tend to think "punishment" is reserved for only a few totally hard cases..
I'm not comfortable with the idea that those not chosen to be saved during this lifetime - because they are
not chosen, will be
punished..
"punished" to me, doesn't seem quite right.. I was changed at salvation.. changed my mind.. was corrected.. curtailed.. but I was not "punished" - Since God did the choosing, and not I, why would I not be punished, but those not chosen, per His doing/or, that is, not yet doing, why should
they be "punished" but I wasn't? Since the choice was not my doing any more than the not yet saved are not yet saved because of their doing or not doing.. ?? :2c:
  My punishment was the regret for my past actions and then dealing with my wacky carnal mind during the years of growth. I feel that is quite enough for folks to endure. :Chinscratch: :Peace2:
