Thanking God through your Trials

Can you remember the last time you found yourself facing a trial in your life? How did you respond? Did you get anxious, have fear, or rebuke the devil?

Paul said, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)

Notice how it says, "Do not to be anxious, but be thankful? "

You may be thinking, "How can I be thankful, when I am walking through a trial?"

In the current times we are living in, there are so many people walking around, anxious and worried about the economy, jobs, dwindling savings account, and what the future holds for their life. Its hard not feeling fear and anxiousness when the evidence "shows" them that they have great reason to fear, but God says, "Be anxious for nothing and be thankful."

In the book of James it says, "Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

WOW, trials will cause us to become perfect and complete, lacking nothing!! That is huge! However, do we believe it? The Word says it! We should have JOY when we face trials!

How many times have you walked through a trial in your life which looked as if it was the worst thing that could have ever happen to you, yet, now looking back on it, you can clearly see that it was a trial that forever changed your life, for the good, and now you.... Thank God for it?

How about that job you lost. The one that made you think your world was going to end, only to find that because you lost that job, you had been forced to seek out new doors, which eventually led you to a much greater, more fulfilling job. Or, that person you found that you thought was the love of your life, that caused you so much heartache when it ended. Now you..... Thank God it ended, because you would have never met the person that you truly love now.

In my walk, I have come to see each trial I face as a time where God has something to teach me, show me or use to change me. When I find myself faced with a trial, the first thing I do is ask God, "What are you doing through this, or what are you showing me?"

How can I be thankful in trials? When I can look back to my past trials and see that the greatest fruit came through those trials. I have the evidence! I can see with my own eyes that trials can be something that leads to great fruit. Why would I not be thankful for that?

I can trust God and thank Him in my trial, because I have great confidence that there is always something great that will come from it.

As you celebrate Thanksgiving with your family and friends this year, ask yourself, what is it in your life, that does not look the best, but you can step out, and be thankful for? You never know, this trial could be just the one that will change your life forever, for the good!
