Hey everyone. I have a 5 year old girl, and I wanted to ask if there are any other parents here that have suggestions or stories about how you teach your kids about Christ outside the orthodox Church. Most parents stick their kids in children's church but that's not an option for me because of all the garbage that they would fill her little head with.
I am so used to talking about these complex matters with adults, but for a child, I am not very used to it. You have to be much simpler. Does anyone have advice on this, and also any recommendations on teaching tools out there which are absent of all the ET garbage?
I know about the Veggie guys, so I was wondering if there was anything else you rely on, or just if you teach your kids without those tools, what your approach is.
For us folks in UR this can be tricky because not only am I trying to teach my daughter, I have to play goalie to all these other concepts out in the world that other Christians will be attempting to get her to believe that will take her down a sorrowful road. But I know, no matter what I do, she will have some kind of Egypt of her own to be delivered from, some kind of Babylon, even if it's not orthodoxy. As in Revelation, we all come out of her to be called "my people."

One day when looking into study on line and my son was maybe 5 or 6 years old and the family was around , I shared with them'' Do you know its a sin to worry ?? after looking into some scriptures and meanings I was shocked and blurted this out to them , and explained it shows a lack of faith in God to trusting Him . simple enough a truth !
well I want you to know that stuck with my son , it was not long after when I was stressing about somthing , my little boy says,'' Mommy its a sin to worry remember'' ! I felt conviction , but it was a pure one !wow!
I know just talking to them with simple truths , they can be some of the most profound and foundational building blocks not stumbling blocks for your child to exerscise ,
they also remind us in times , that helps us to remember , like casting your bread of life on many waters [voices toungues and peoples ] and it does return to you in many days and many ways !!!

Seth, children follow the example of those they love. If you want to teachyour children of Father and Christ, teach them through your actions and words used always. In short, be conscious of the fact they are watching and listening always. Bare in mind, this does not mean WHAT YOU TELL THEM. :punish:
When the time comes, ASK FIRST what they think of (your subject here) and based on how they answer, explain your understanding using biblical stores and correlate the stories with examples of your actions.
Your children will SEE what you are saying through your examples and they will listen and learn, because they were talked to and made feel important.
This worked with me and works still.

Seth I have a 5 year old daughter as well. And like you I understand that she is going to have to be in Babylon in order to come out of her. So even though I don't attend any services I don't object when she goes with her fathers parents. I will teach my children what I know to be right and true and be honest about what I don't understand. God is the one who will lead them into all truth and it is all in His timing anyhow. So I will give them what He gives me and let them choose what they want to believe. In His time they will believe the truth anyhow. :)
(Remembering that takes a lot of pressure off. I often have to be reminded of these things though... it's an earthly parents curse I think. ;) )
Thanks everyone. Yes, I am taking it slowly regarding doctrinal matters. She is only 5 after all. But when you leave the church you realize you can't depend on other people to teach your kid the basic stuff. We're on our own. I really wouldn't have it any other way, because knowing the truth is the best thing I could have been given by the Lord. But, it does mean no dependance on church programs...
