I was doing a little bit of a word study on the Greek word Elysium, after having listened to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbHPTPUpQ1I (http://this) (beautiful music inspires me) - and I found that the word "Elysium" is the Latinised version of the Greek word Elysion; which etymologically speaking comes from (in theory) the word "enelysion" which means essentially: "struck by lightning".
Now, in the Greek mind, one who was struck by lightning was blessed by Zeus (whom obviously lightning is connected with) - and so it is a simple enough train of thought that one blessed by Zeus would go to a happy place after dying via lightning. So it becomes easy to see how Enelysion (struck by lightning) would become Elysion (paradise).
But then, I had a little thought...
Isn't it odd, that in order for one to pass into paradise they must be struck by lightning? It might be a stretch, but perhaps it was a little hint at the universal nature of God, from the universal God - That for one to pass into blissful existence they must pass through lightning.
I find it equally curious, that the fire of God is often connected to lightning, and that in order to pass into paradise - we must be baptised with the Holy Ghost and fire, among other references to passing through fire.
Any thoughts?

The word Elysium isn't used, I was just sharing a piece of Classical knowledge applied to a scriptural concept that I found interesting. (Wasn't sure where to put it other than this section of the forum)

A fiery flame is pretty similar to lightning and we are talking a pretty powerful display

Scripture has lightnings 14 times . . . the nature of lightning for me, articulates the spiritual symbolism of it. It's revlatory by nature. (flash of LIGHT) It's imeasurable. It's instantaneous. It's predictably unpredictable. It "can" be induced to a degree. It's extremely precise. When there are ground strikes, rain is very probable. If it is merely within clouds, it "can" be deceptive in predicting rain (heat lightning) If you are struck by it and yet live, you'll still never be the same as before.
Spiritually speaking, when I see these lightnings in Revelation, I see them to be individual illuminations of God's truth in men. Thunder is the result of the light exceeding the sound barrier which is a whole other phenomena in and of itself.

althou Twnkling is defined as Thrown to the GROUND[ sounds like lightening, even thou lightening comes from the EARTH-
