I am really really longing for sanctification. I was wondering if any of you out there have been sanctified yet and the process you went through to get there? (NOTE: I am NOT looking for opinions on whether or not we can become sanctified in this life or not. Thanks.)
What, exactly, is your definition of the word?
holiness and sanctification
mean the same thing here :Book:
holiness 5, sanctification 5
Strong's G38 - hagiasmos 1) consecration, purification
2) the effect of consecration
a) sanctification of heart and life
Sis lomarah ,
there was a group of folks a couple of years back
and Taffy was one of them with a few others and Redlettervoice etc...
and we discussed this very thing !!!
seems we all agreed that only God has the ''right '' to call any of us '' perfect / complete / holy sanctified , entire in Him
we cannot boast ... :msealed:
Job was called perfect and upright by the Lord to satan
but Job never said he was perfect .... :dontknow:
I find it ironic that in Revelations the very thing that was happening to Job was exactly what satan was doing accuser of the brethern day and night
in the Light / Knowledge of God though Christ
and in the night / darkness ignorance of knowing God's presence
in Christ :mshock: And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Rev 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Job wished he had never been born and Jobs testimony was this that He did not Blame God for His affliction !!
by the skin of his teeth ! spaking of the Rock / Jesus in a hidden way even !
Job 19:20 My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.
Job 19:22 Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?
Job 19:23 ¶ Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!
Job 19:24 That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!
we also Know that the Spirit of Christ was there just not fully manifested yet ... in the fulness of time , yet the works were going on as we read this Book of Life / Jesus Christ witness / testimony ...
:icon_flower:
Paul also was striving to be ''complete '' and yet Paul said those what were perfect in the Lord be in this mind / Christ
Phl 3:15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
I do hope this is about what you are meaning sis ?
God knows who is his / holy sanctified
because He made them that way IN Purpose :HeartThrob:
1Pe 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
Mat 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
after reading these two chapters , shows us how its done
God & Christ / annointing working in us all ...
hope this will help a little bit ..
Hi Lomorrah;
I beleive HE SANCTIFIES us by the 'word of truth' and the washing with the 'word'.
I beleive He further sanctifies us with the spirit of 'godliness' even the Holy spirit.
being not of the world...seperates us/or sanctify's us,as a vessel used of the Lord..for His purpose/service and glory.
the word 'saint' comes from same root as sanctify.
I beleive God has chosen all mankind for Himself,as His possession...and will sanctify all in each his order.
when God created man,for His spirit to dwell in...He showed forth His intent to sanctify man in His creation.
as we are refined,tried,washed...it is only Father who can declare the end of this process in His children.
I beleive He is bringing many sons and daughters to glory,
and 'sanctification' is part of this process.
Blessings :HeartThrob:
Lomorrah, you're not alone! It is a blessed longing that we all have deep in our hearts.
Psalm 63 (New King James Version)
A Psalm of David when he was in the wilderness of Judah.
1 O God, You are my God;
Early will I seek You;
My soul thirsts for You;
My flesh longs for You
In a dry and thirsty land
Where there is no water.
2 So I have looked for You in the sanctuary,
To see Your power and Your glory.
3 Because Your lovingkindness is better than life,
My lips shall praise You.
4 Thus I will bless You while I live;
I will lift up my hands in Your name.
5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness,
And my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.
6 When I remember You on my bed,
I meditate on You in the night watches.
7 Because You have been my help,
Therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice.
8 My soul follows close behind You;
Your right hand upholds me.
:cloud9: Amen, we are to be sanctified in this life! To be sanctified is to be set apart for holy use, as the instruments and the priests in the Tabernacle of Moses were sanctified by the blood for use in the Tabernacle. The Holy Ghost is as the blood that sanctifies us and sets us apart for use now. Blessings....
Thank you all for your replies. I am in the middle of moving and my internet hasn't been hooked up yet so I will reply more in depth later. :cloud9:
Continually being humble and bow before the Father, he will get us through.
It seems impossible for some(myself) to be sanctified, but I am continually bowing and waiting.
I pray he gives me strength to do his will.

Amen , we all do sis , for sure God will{is } do this in faith believing it to be so !
Strong's G281 - amēn
1) firm
a) metaph. faithful
2) verily, amen
a) at the beginning of a discourse - surely, truly, of a truth
b) at the end - so it is, so be it, may it be fulfilled. It was a custom, which passed over from the synagogues to the Christian assemblies, that when he who had read or discoursed, had offered up solemn prayer to God, the others responded Amen, and thus made the substance of what was uttered their own. :HeartThrob:
I'm finally all moved in and have internet again, yay!
I agree with you all, but was looking for some practical steps that God may have taken some of you through? I understand that it is by the Holy Spirit's leading and obeying that leading that a person becomes sanctified, is that everyone else's understanding?
Thanks again,
Holly :HeartThrob:
Would someone please tell lomarah about the process I can say for me I had to go through much.
I am still not there yet.
I am afraid I may sound discouraging, so hopefully others can mention what santification consists of.
I would think some has an easier time than others.
I think for me it's been a long series of failures, and being convicted of them and shown a better way by God, and then helping me by His grace to move another step forward on it...a long walk of progressing, growing, Him disciplining me as a son. I've sometimes despised it, become frustrated by it, and just wanted to be a "normal, everyday person". But I guess that would be someone who doesn't love Him with a passion and who's (through no ability of their own) being brought daily more into His will. My will has had to be broken (continues to be, because I regress) and continually re-shaped as He wants it.
An example would be my anger and tendency to "get in people's face". Over time, He's convicted me of how wrong that is; it's a bad witness to His love - it's not having the fruit of the Spirit - it may harm someone (besides myself) - it's a poor example for my children and others - it does not grow the Kingdom - on and on. So He's convicted me, brought it to my attention, time after time being just a little more able to "put a lid on it", pray for His help, forgive, try to love instead - learning humility rather than demanding my own way. Still a ways to go, it's in His hands.
It's that scenario played out time and again, with different things in my life - me unable to do it, only able as He works that work through me.
My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline
or be weary of his reproof,
for the Lord reproves him whom he loves,
as a father the son in whom he delights.
My son, do not lose sight of these—
keep sound wisdom and discretion,
and they will be life for your soul
and adornment for your neck.
Then you will walk on your way securely,
and your foot will not stumble.
If you lie down, you will not be afraid;
when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
Do not be afraid of sudden terror
or of the ruin of the wicked, when it comes,
for the Lord will be your confidence
and will keep your foot from being caught.
from Proverbs 3
I absolutely agree jabcat that has been the same way for me even years before I knew much or even cared about santification.
I have felt like such a failure in most things relationships family even failed myself.
My husband tells me every chance he should have known better than marry me,*he don't mean it.*
God also has taught me not to argue with my husband or anyone else.
He is definitely changing me there are times, I just wish I could have had a nice cush life a husband that loves me children that love me a house I have lived in all my life.
I definitely have learned there is no one person that will fullfill ones needs, only our Father.
I honestly feel like I have been there done that in just 10 years since I stopped church, then in spring of 2007 I knew I would never fit in with the world again, *not that I ever did*.
I once operated on my hurts and emotions I felt like a victim of my circumstances.
Now most of the time someone can intend to hurt me, it don't hurt me at all, my emotions are finally under control.
It really is worth it even if it sounds scary.
God bless you SQ. Father, bring comfort and peace - the kind only you can give. And now bring a season of special blessings upon this dear family member, so that she will rejoice and give You the praise. In Jesus' name.
Thanks SQ and James, I know what you are talking about, being convicted and all that. God has worked in my life that way as well.
I guess I'm just looking for an easy way to sanctification because I desperately long for peace and joy. I can't even describe what I've been feeling lately... it's like I can't feel anything anymore. It's scary. I feel like my frontal lobe has deteriorated or something (for any psychology majors out there). Thankfully last night God showed me He's still here and caring for me even though I feel like a crazy wacko. I want so desperately to be back to that place where I am so in love with God and I trust Him completely. I want to KNOW Him. :sigh: I keep trying to stay positive. I know that everything is going to work out and we will all be made perfect in love. I just keep trying to focus on that. Anyhow, thanks again for the posts, and thanks for the quote from Proverbs James, that's one of my faves and I needed to hear it I think.
God bless you guys.
Hi lo
Well, IMO, that's another big part of the equation - trust. Through the midst of all that sanctification process, I think it's easy to get into our own efforts and focusing on our failures - and before long we're struggling.
So while everything's going on, for me there's a few things to remember. Because He's doing the process of what I posted earlier, that's assurance of His love and acceptance, because He's dealing with us as His children. ("whom He loves He chastens"). Also, He says to take His yoke upon us, to learn of Him, that He is meek and lowly and His burden is light. So for me, I have to remember it's HIS work in me, through me, He's in control of it, and at some I just need to be still before Him and just look to Him for it all...I part company with many on this, but I see Him as the One Who not only begins our faith (walk in Him) but also the One Who works and completes the process (Author and Finisher) - and that HE seals us with His Spirit upon salvation and HE ENSURES that we endure to the end. Otherwise, IMO, it's not by grace through faith (and THAT not of ourselves) and we could boast - and we can't. It's His work, which He has predestined to be completed in Him. Each in his own order.
So in the midst of it all, there's a rest, a shelter in His arms - a "He leads me beside the still waters, He restores my soul". It's about Him, I encourage that we look to Him.
God's blessings, James.

Thanks James, needed that! :cloud9:
1 Thessalonians 5 23May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.
Yes, eventually will be a finished work in all of us, God always finishes what he starts. :bgdance:

:cloud9: Not much time on here to go into detail but I just wanted to share that that is a normal part of the sanctification process. He has to cleanse the 4 parts of our soul (mind, will EMOTIONS, and desires) with the fire of His Spirit.
In the process of this going on in our emotions it DOES seem like we can't feel anything anymore, but what is REALLY happening is, that our emotions are being REINED in by His Spirit and consumed. The fruits of the Spirit, ARE HIS EMOTIONS, and they slowly replace ours.
Fire is as salt and both purifies (sanctifies) and PRESERVES. When Paul prayed that the Lord PRESERVE us wholly, he was not just talking to the 1st century Christians.
Salt burns, but it cleanses a wound and we have all been wounded by transgressions. When we come into agreement with a part of His Word or obey His Spirit in some fashion, it BURNS all that is not like God in us that is trying to get us to transgress.
Because it is attached to our flesh, we feel the "pain", but "I reckon that the sufferings of this present world are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is getting ready to be revealed IN US". Blessings to you.....

Eph 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith,
and of the knowledge of the Son of God,
unto a perfect man,
unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
But speaking the truth in love,
may grow up into him in all things,
which is the head,
[even] Christ
From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplies,
according to the effectual working in the measure of every part,
make increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
Do have a strong love affection towards everyone here gathered sis and words just dont measure up to explain it :msealed:

Sometimes I forget that we have to go through fire and that even though it burns for the moment it is for a good and divine purpose. Knowing that I am going to come out on the other end as a beautiful work of art makes it much easier to go through! :cloud9:
rosered and SQ: :cloud9: Thanks for your kind words and encouragement, means a lot!
You guys have no idea what a blessing it is to be able to come on here and pour my heart out to like minded people. I feel like I have no one in my life that I can talk to about these things. All of my friends are either ET believers, unbelievers, or unconcerned about spiritual things. I just wish there were some of you around my neck of the woods! Anyone feel like taking a trip to Eastern Canada? It's beautiful out here. :happy3:
God bless you! :dsunny:

There's no lower than where we are now.
Just seems like we need stop looking left and right, just the same ol', same ol'; and start looking up, following the Way that Jesus blazed before us and take our place in history.

Yes I agree with we must take our place/dominion but I would love to see the words I speak cause things to come into line. This is a process,a tribulation ,a squeezing and that is what we all go through ...just like Jesus.Be nice if God would make it happen in one week-ha,ha

He did, it only took 7 days!

You sure like speaking with songs....thanks for them
I will have to admit,it fills like a jump start is about to come, not something I've seen before, something new .It is impossible to describe but it will be something to draw on that will always have plenty of juice in it.But in the meantime I'm empty or close to it.
I would get revelation, understanding, dreams, words and see signs, wonders.I would speak ...electronics would change, cars start....lot of cool ,weird things. Why show me all this, give me understanding and now wait?...why not give some more encouraging things to see.
maybe its all there to give me more desire to see the manifestation...to get rid of my unbeleif.!
well thanks for letting me vent....
blessings for everyone :icon_king:
The trumpets always went first and trust me that I am ministered, too, very much by by the songs I share here.
And I know what you mean by the Father speaking to you through the natural things of the world that we are familiar with in our life.
These are, I believe, His way, to attune our ear to His still, soft voice that directs our being.
Yesterday, I posted a prayer request for 2 others that are about to lose their homes and I tell you that the pain they feel is as if it's my OWN.
Amen, Amen, Amen...
For the JOY set before Him HE endured the cross — Who is that JOY? — WE ARE THE JOY OF THE LORD!
We are — The masterpiece of God's creation.
We are — His Poem and His Sonnet.
We are — The Breath of His Life with Whom He is well pleased.
The earth is the Lord's and the fullness within it. (Psalm 24)
Amen, Amen and Amen, Raise us Father. Wipe away our tears. Remember your promise O'God.
