Based on my Catholic background, I used to think God hated sin and would hurt us for offending him, but now I realize that God hates sin because it hurts us. God disciplines us like any good parent would, to teach us the error of our ways so we are allowed to grow spiritually. God is a loving father, not the crazy alcoholic step  uncle who locks their nephew in the attic for misbehaving. (My apologies to all the normal alcoholic step uncles out there.)  :laughing7: I just read this verse, and it reminded me how we should always be grateful when God disciplines and judges us.  :punish:

Hebrews 12:10,11 Our human fathers punished us for a short time, as it seemed right to them; but God does it for our own good, so that we may share his holiness. When we are punished, it seems to us at the time something to make us sad, not glad. Later, however, those who have been disciplined by such punishment reap the peaceful reward of a righteous life.

 :goodpost:   Warhawk 17    welcome !!!
We are corrected at   entry , being recieved by Him !!  :HeartThrob:

hebrews 12

"My son, don't take lightly the chastening of the Lord,
    nor faint when you are reproved by him;
6 For whom the Lord loves, he chastens,
and scourges every son whom he receives."
Jesus is the reward  !!

Eduard

For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.

:HeartThrob:
Micah 7:7

But as for me, I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.

John 15:5

I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

  Hi  all ,

good one Eduard

Max , that is when things changed for me too when I began to see the Heavenly Father  as a father figure  , whom wants whats best for His children  , wants them to do well   and loves them unconditonally   , I shared that also with my husband , I asked who you burn your  son forever  for not obeying you ?  no of course not
Well its put a different  Light on the  percieving How the Lord is  in our household
always Thankful for that understanding   and  peace that should always rule the household
Jesus is the reward  !!

Great responses everyone!  :gimmefive: I just don't understand how so many Christians say how unjust and evil it was for Hitler to burn all those Jews, but they would think it is just then for a God, who is far more loving and just than any human, is just to burn his children for all eternity just because they didn't believe in Him or rebelled against Him. I do believe the evil monsters of society like Hitler, Stalin, Bin Laden, and the St. Louis Cardinals  :mock: will be judged harshly by God for their sins, but God is the perfect judge, and his punishments will perfectly fit their crimes, and it will be for their own good.

Jk about the Cardinals of course.  :laughing7: I'm just a bitter Milwaukee Brewers fan who is tired of losing to them all the time, but we did finally beat them tonight!  I hope none of our friends in the St. Louis area take offense to that jab. Maybe you guys aren't even baseball fans lol.

:iagree:

If my kids have been naughty, I would force them to make nice, rather than kick them out of the house forever and ever. How much more so the heavenly Father.
