Jesus said no one likes new wine at first but prefers the old.. and you can't pour new wine into an old wine skin.. Reading a commentary, it pointed out how not only is the old wine the old not yet regenerated old nature (carnal, selfish, etc) but also concerning faith and belief. It pointed out the old wine of the old covenant in the Old Testament. The agreement with God called, The Law, given through Moses. I hadn't thought of it that way!
I'm thinking this would also be true with UR/CU vs ET.. also with evolution vs design.. maybe all arguments and new ideas.. kind of like slow plodding oxen.. it takes us a while to accept something new.
But! Jesus sits at the table and says "come and eat.. bread and new wine of the new covenant.."
(....and how often do we need to eat and drink?) The New Covenant Of Jesus died for the sins of the world and He has overcome the world. It was all UR! From the first sacrifice or offering of Adam and Eve.. We can know that, because of His Word and logic/extension.
Life(God) is good!
I think the new wine becomes acceptable for our difficult decision minds when we understand that Christ wants to be our Higher Self in us, that the Spirit becomes a self. We shall deny the bad self and use no excused but instead rest on the promise of grace and forgiveness. And the Higher Self in us means that Christ becomes part of us, we get something we can keep, we are in this for good. God isn't making halfbaked stuff but has build and worked and suffered a big salvation for us. And also a cherishable normalcy, because getting the Higher Self does not mean we become Lords or something. We just find new life and can start anew every day. No more being bound by death and decay and forgetting! God is wise beyond measure and loving us as deeply as the clouds are higher than the Earth!
I think this analogy is all about change and our transformation, in Christ.
We must change to hold the new insights and wisdom, that the Holy Spirit wants us to have.
We are the wine skins that must be transformed. The wine is the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit.

Amen!! It's all about changing.. being born again, a process.. i've always kidded around with myself, that I am indeed an old wine skin, but I never seriously thought it through.. :laughing7:
