It seems to me that Jesus' discourse when the disciples asked Him about 'the end of the age' that it stretches out, from start to end.. He says "before these things they will deliver you up to councils (in their synagogues) and you will witness in front of kings, etc.. the Holy Spirit will be the one speaking.. Then when you read the apostles being arrested and brought to stand before rulers in the synagogues.. and then Paul also and also before rulers in Rome.. and Peter, I think it is, said "we and the Holy Spirit testifying.." - Well, can't help thinking of Jesus' words concerning appearing before kings, etc. ...then the discourse ends with "Immediately after... the sun will be darkened.. moon will not give its light; the stars will fall ...be shaken... the sign of the Son of Man will appear.. all the tribes of the earth will mourn... the Son of Man coming ...with power and great glory"

I read recently a brother or sister on a christian universalism forum on social media that Jesus when saying "many will come in my name saying I am Messiah, do not follow them" that He was saying they would say He, Jesus, is Messiah, but will lead many astray/wrongly? "off course"

When I read Mark 13:21-22 today, after saying the worst time ever and never that bad again time - in His response to the disciples asking "what signs of your coming?" - i.e. just about at the end of the discourse He said, "At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Messiah!' or, 'Look, there he is!' do not believe it. For false messiahs (pseudochristoi) and false prophets (pseudoprophētai) will appear and perform signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect."

Which made me wonder if Mark 13 is one of the chapters (of the three accounts; maybe they all do, but I think one doesn't) that has both verses. Mark 13:6 "many will come in my name.." and verses 21-22 "many pseudochrist..s ..will appear.."

The interlinear goes like this - legontes-saying  hoti-that  Egō-I  eimi-am[He] ..."many will come in my name saying that I am He and will mislead many, do not follow them" (i was thinking He perhaps could have said it like this - many will come in my name saying they are Me(?)
                 ("that" is not included in the interlinear translation, but only a - where hoti is - granted, I don't know alot about Greek, though I think it's easier than the Hebrew, since we can see many of our english words in it :thumbsup: )

I.M.O that is what so many of the "teachers/prophets on t.v are doing and many churches. Seems they are still using the teaching of obedience to the law giving us blessing. They talk about Christ and heaven and all that, but I.M.O do NOT KNOW CHRIST.
Jesus said they would do miracles "in My name" - there are miracles signs, and wonders, occurring.

All this, for me, highlights those who are to be led astray are still under the law- have not been accurately shown the freedom and completeness of the work of Christ- but this is so no one can  take any credit for what Christ did for mankind.

I have been there in "spiritual warfare"- that is application of blessing and cursing associated with the teachings of Deut and Leviticus about the law.
That is also reliant on personal obedience-works- self effort; denies Christ covered EVERYTHING that the law could only point out.
Love is greater than the law, which inflicts slavery on the people and superiority for the "leaders".
Christ dying for us shows leaders should not be glorifying themselves  but boasting in Christ- not many do that.
This would be why Christ said, " look at what the Pharisees are saying, but don't do what they do."

The real thing about wolves in sheeps clothing, false Christs, false teachers, etc. -is that they always put themselves at the center. They may teach the law, and they will assume authority over any one who disagrees or questions them. It is one thing to be in error and another to be a spiritual predator. That is a matter of intent, and the Lord tries the reigns and the hearts, and we have to discern when we are dealing with someone who is in error or someone who isa wilful deceiver. Amen! Jesus may have said "do not follow them" if one teaches in His name but not the full glorious gospel (for instance) but! He didn't say to not love them.. or that He doesn't or wouldn't love them.. it's the carnal nature that is quick to condemn, etc.. By appearance, but He tries the heart and reigns (motives) many folks even preach, teach or share the gospel that proclaims "hell" for ever and ever.. etc.. But that, I'm sure, truly love Him! But even though we still love them, have true affection and care about them, doesn't mean we should 'follow' them.. (And I can't help being reminded that we are to follow Jesus.. Himself.. and Him as the Logos..)

  Yes  it is true that   Jesus forgives   those in ignorance of the law of Love !!!!!!!  ,   but when He warns them   go and sin no more unless a worse thing  comes upon you   , it is a stronger chastisement     you will face  when your turn from the truth    to destruction .
  Peter was a great example of that   when the cock crowed   3 times .   

   We cannot  endure sin on our own  merit .. GODS grace is  to the humbled  and lowly  of heart that have  cried out unto Him  in private  and by the prayers of the holy ones  to Him , 
to   forgive   and be forgiven   by Him   because we do trust in Him  for everything ...
