Title: Male abuse of women- does God approve?
Post by: Andromeda_Organa on March 21, 2009, 07:10:37 PM
I'm a history student, and I've been doing some studies about how some more egalatarian societes(ancient Egypt, the Aztecs and the Incas) were conquered by male dominated societies that has led to abuse of women in those areas that continues to this day(Egypt and Latin America.) So I was wondering- was God punishing those societies for giving women an equal voice with men? Ancient Egyptian women were treated as equalsl with men in almost everything untill the Romans came along, same with the indigenous women until the arrival of the Spainiards. So I'm wondering if God approves of men abusing and mistreating women to keep us in line.

God doesn't approve of the abuse of men, women, children, or animals.  Each are equally precious in His sight.  We live in a fallen world as far as why people hurt in this world.  When people don't want to obey Him in this life, then they can't have in this life what He has.

Before you get too rosy eyed about 'egalitarian societies,'  you should realize those societies ripped the hearts out of living men as sacrifice to their gods and played ball with the heads of their enemies.

This is not a battle of class, or sex, or money, or flesh,  it is spiritual warfare.

I think he was agreeing with me, if I could be so presumptuous.

And, if he's not, he should!

Signed,

:cloud9: rofl.....you two are too funny...... :bgdance:

Reminds me of a true story I read one time about a man who was the sheriff, the mayor, and (can't remember) what else, of a very small town out west. Someone new came into town and had words with him over something and the stranger, aggravated, asked to talk to his superior. The man of many offices replied something like this....."I have NO superiors and dam* few equals!"

The stranger made amends rather quickly, before he found out if the person he was aggravated with was also the judge.   Blessings....

Readers Digest always makes me wonder if literature shouldn't be spelled as litterature  :laughing7:

Nah, those are two entirely different words.  There's literature like Carol J. Adams' "Sexual Politics of Meat," Thomas Hardy's "The Return of the Native," H.G. Wells' "The Country of the Blind," Thomas Paine's "Common Sense," and Henry David Thoreau's "Civil Disobedience."  And then there's litterature like the newspaper, the occasional Readers Digest magazine (some of 'em are really great and some of 'em do bomb of what was probably their intent to be better than they were), the driver's handbook, and many restaurant menus.

God does not approve of anyone's abuse of anyone else. We are to treat each other as more important than ourselves.

:cloud9: The only "woman" He wants us to keep in line is our soul, and we all have one, even those of us of the female flesh. Blessings...
