Okay, here is my query, is the Bible literal or is the Bible spiritual? Is the Bible a  literal history of ....... or is the Bible of spiritual instruction?
As for myself I understand it for spiritual instruction.

1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

Molly

Both--first the natural, then the spiritual.

Amein. Just as a simple seed teaches us. The seed is the natural, and is the first thing you see. The life hidden within is the spiritual which springs forth when planted in the soil, later in the process. The word is that seed, first natural which the natural man can only see as a dormant seed, yet planted in circumcised hearts of flesh the deeper spiritual life within the word springs forth from within us.

What literal instruction is gained and learned? I understand   1Co 15:45  so also it hath been written, `The first man Adam became a living creature,' the last Adam is for a life-giving spirit,
1Co 15:46  but that which is spiritual is not first, but that which was natural, afterwards that which is spiritual.
1Co 15:47  The first man is out of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord out of heaven;

1Co 2:13  which things also we speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Holy Spirit, with spiritual things spiritual things comparing,
1Co 2:14  and the natural man doth not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for to him they are foolishness, and he is not able to know them , because spiritually they are discerned;
1Co 2:15  and he who is spiritual, doth discern indeed all things, and he himself is by no one discerned;
1Co 2:16  for who did know the mind of the Lord that he shall instruct Him? and we--we have the mind of Christ.

What is literally gleaned from Paul's words?

WhiteWings

You have to look at teh larger story Micah :grin:
If you don't then there are many verses that have no spiritual meaning.
Jesus wept.
Jesus walked home.

I agree with Ron.
A seed is planted in the literal and a spiritual plant grows.
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

Joh 6:63  the spirit it is that is giving life; the flesh doth not profit anything; the sayings that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life;

WhiteWings

That verse doesn't exclude literal thing.

The flesh profits nothing doesn't mean it can't be useful for spiritual things.
You read a Bible with your natural eyes. Then your spirit learns/profits.
The literal things like marriage and harvests teach us spiritual things.
Same for literal parables like the lost coin, lost sheep, prodical so, workman, etc
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

In your thinking you a probably correct, from what I have been given to understand( and no offensive intended) you are one who does not believe in God, but you maybe changing. The way I see it WW you are a person who studys the Bible, to prove it true or to disprove it I dont know, you have found much in the way of Bible information that is produced by many different beliefs, I have found some interesting should I let my natural mind wonder and wander in the writings. The way I am just now learning and I have no understanding, yet, to even explain it even to myself, The Mind of Christ sees nothing literal for nothing is
what man considers it to be.
Mat 21:21 Jesus answering said to them, Truly do I say to you, If ye have faith, and do not doubt, not only shall ye do what hath been done to the fig–tree, but should ye even say to this mountain, Be thou taken up and cast into the sea, it would be done.
Mat 21:22 And all things whatever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye will receive.

That's a ver convenient way to 'win' a discussion.
Being able to read has nothing to do with religion.

QuoteThe Mind of Christ sees nothing literal for nothing is what man considers it to be.
But that isn't what the verse claims or is about. You seem to think one excludes the other. I wrote:

The natural eye sees a story of a very average shepherd that does his daily job like millions of other shepherds.
But that natural fact doesn't excludes extra (not so) hidden meanings.

what shall we ask?

You go first.

For Him to feed the poor with spiritual bread and physical bread.

So then we know that reading through natural eyes will bring forth natural/earthy understanding.
Rev 3:18  I counsel thee to buy from me gold fired by fire, that thou mayest be rich, and white garments that thou mayest be arrayed, and the shame of thy nakedness may not be manifest, and with eye-salve anoint thine eyes, that thou mayest see.

Ah...no.  There are a lot of miracles that happen in the Bible, a lot of supernatural experiences.  If you read these as literal, then you will have an expectation of miracles and supernatural experiences happening in your life as well--as a normal, natural course of events.

There is a way to read the Bible [only the OT] through the carnal mind [the veil], but this is not what I am talking about.  A literal reading of the NT cuts through the carnal mind like a hot knife through butter.  I would suspect the Bible reading Jews have never read the NT.

Sounds somewhat like George Nori Am radio at 3:00 in the morning. I believe in miracles, I dont require them in my walk, still I have witnessed miracles( sign, token, wonder) in my walk and in family and friends I cherish them and Praise Him for each one. They may not fall into what religion calls a miracle, but I know what He did.

Just how is it that you know that He is not feeding either"spiritual bread and physical bread." to the poor? I know that the poor will always be with us, its His plan for His reasons, but to say that He is not. Just wondering where you got that?

Psalm 34:10
The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.

Look around the world and there are people starving. I have heard figures of up to 2 billion people. But I don't believe that figure. They probably calculate that a person who doesn't stuff himself with 10 wheel barrows of food a day is in poverty.

But jokes aside there is hunger in the world, and Gods people are being feed lies from the pulpit.

Also heard prophecies where God says that My people hunger and are impoverished. The western Church being feed milk, that which is fit for babies and are not fed enough nourishing meat for them to be strong warriors for Gods kingdom.

This is leading nowhere. Imo you are taking things a lot out of context.
Verses, parables, concepts, patterns, etc are a stepping stone to the spiritual. One doesn't exclude the other.
I guess that in your mind Jesus was a carnal teacher. He used a carnal mouth to speak into carnal ears. He was nothing more than a storyteller wasting His time. He better had stayed in bed and just let the HS do all the teaching.

My view: By His carnal teachings and miricals He planted seeds. The HS watered those seeds and they grew into spiritual plants.

And "Being able to read has nothing to do with religion." HAS EVERYTHING to do with religion, thats why there are so many.
And let me add this, you question me, I dont mind, but you dont believe in God so I take your input as a value. Should the Lord be leading me in error, then He will also be the One who turns me around.
